4 out of 5 stars Garmin nuvi 350 is the way to go!   November 8, 2008

My daughter told me she wanted a Garmin nuvi for her birthday and, not being one to take anybody's word for it, I decided to check into GPS units myself to see if there was a big difference. When it comes to the technology, I found that the nuvi is every bit as good as units costing a lot more. I decided on the nuvi 350 due to the features, the biggest one being the text to speech. The 350 actually announces the proper street/route name allowing the driver to stay focused on the road instead of looking at the screen. This is a must have feature for a relatively small, portable unit. When you do need to look at the screen (when entering your destination, etc. not to mention that, dang it, gizmos are just so much fun...) it is very easy to read and navigate around due to the touch sensitive screen. A lot of data is available at a glance, and the nuvi very rapidly calcules a new route if you deviate from the original one. Everything needed is right in the box, just plug it in and go. My daughter could probably give a lot more reasons but anyone who is concerned about the safety of their family should look into this unit. For the features and the price, I'm convinced: the Garmin nuvi 350 is a keeper.

This product has been very easy to use! The variety of functions is great. It has proven very helpful in many situations and I've only taken it on 2 trips, so far.

4 out of 5 stars be aware that you can only add one via point in a route   November 4, 2008

if the GPS generates a route that you don't like, you can only change the route by adding one via point. Up to now I haven't figured out how to modify the route that the GPS gives me. TomTom has very good feature in this regard, you can choose avoiding certain section or pick certain via-point in a route, In that way you can really customize your trip. Garmin 350 doesn't have that feature at all. besides, the photo viewer and MP3 players are just stupid and very low end, they don't seem to be very useful for a GPS user. Other that that, it is a very good GPS unit.

5 out of 5 stars Great   November 3, 2008

It is wonderful having someone telling you where to turn when you have no idea where you are, I'm new in town and it is a great help to move around.
Some times it takes a lot of time acquiring satellites and that's annoying

5 out of 5 stars i like it   November 3, 2008
Am enjoying this product. Biggest complaint is map accuracy but the device itself works well and has more capability than I use.
