Not worth it. January 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been preparing for my GED for quite awhile now and have utilized numerous books. This book was by far the most useless of all. The practice questions we often pointless and the study advice was more common sense than anything else. At the end of the book, they include final practice tests that seem to be more comical than useful. I had a hard time taking the practice tests without criticizing the book consistently. I suggest the Kaplan GED self study guide 2007-2008 edition. At least the Kaplan book seems to take the 5 subjects serious and is successful in treating the reader as if they have a i.q. higher than a newt. Sadly, the GED for Dummies book fails to accomplish this.

It was written in the same format as I believe the test themselves will be given. It looked to me to be a very fine study guide for those who would like to get over those "test" jitters.
GED December 29, 2007 I purchased this book for my neices and to date they are still studying..I hope this will help them get a grip on what education is all about to help themselves learn and grow.

I got my GED back in 2001 and though I did pretty well having this book would have improved my scores. When my sister asked that I get her a book to study for the GED I looked here first, I've always been a fan of the Guides for Dummies and this is another addition to a great line of books.
She hasn't received the book yet as it is a Christmas gift but I have thumbed through the book. They have everything you need to know about the GED from how you sign up for it to an in depth break-down of the tests.Ok, so the book isn't going to teach you everything you need to know but it is going to help you take what you do know and refine it and properly apply it when you take the tests.
Everything is laid out in such an order that you can just pick up the book, start with "A" and once you get to "Z" you're ready to ace the GED. The practice tests are perfect and very true to the form of the GED and you will be pleasantly surprised at what you actually do remember (it's all up there, just need to dust off the brain).
I strongly recommend this book for anyone looking to get a new start with their education. You will not be disappointed, just remember don't give up!

I sent it to a young man in prison, so I can only rate this according to the other "dummies" book. He was very excited about receiving it and it is helping him get his GED.
