3 out of 5 stars Tough to install   April 12, 2007

The product comes with very little technical information in regards to the installation on both the computer and device (in my case SD card). When I finally got the product installed on my Treo, and talking to the GPS reciever the product worked as well as I expected it would. I have formatted my SD card twice, and reinstall the software twice. For some reason the phone, device, and receiver lost communications. I'm disappointed in the fact that I cannot save and up load my favorites through my computer (which is a Mac). Also I am very disappointed with the limited number of favorite destinations that can be saved. I will not be buying Navigator 6 for my fellow associates.

Can I give it negative stars?

I actually have no idea how it works on my Palm Treo 680, I was never able to get that far. I installed the software to my Windows XP desktop and it: would not allow me to install the Palm software (no device found), ran my CPU at 100% and refused to let go or be terminated. And then crashed my computer. On reboot, I discovered that it's autostarting, sucking 100% of my CPU, won't let go, won't terminate, and as soon as I opened the UI it crashed my computer.

4 out of 5 stars Good GPS with Dell X51V PDA   March 9, 2007

I've been using the product for three months.

Pros: The software is easy to navigate and intuitive to use. The Tom Tom Bluetooth GPS unit connected very easily to my Dell X51V. Plenty of points of interest and easy to understand map and voice instructions.

Cons: On occassion the routes it chooses don't make sense. I know this because I frequently use the GPS even when I know where I am going. There are two particular routes I take that is stubbornly wants to make me go the very long way, over 20 minutes out of the way, even though the fastest route is a major highway.

Overall, I like this product very much. Unlike the Garmin GPS10 Bluetooth unit I had before (which is horrible, don't buy it), this product is very reliable and the software and communications works every time. If you are going to use a GPS and PDA combo, this is a good choice.

4 out of 5 stars Changing Maps   February 18, 2007
It has worked very well for me considering I have not read the manual. The one thing that took me awhile to figure out (partly because my last pocket pc gps did this automatically) was you have to manually tell it to switch to a map of a different state.

3 out of 5 stars Mixed bag for TomTom   February 7, 2007

I recently bought the TomTom Navigator 6 SW with Maps of the US and Canada, and the TomTom Bluetooh GPS receiver.

The receiver works very well -- charge it up, hit the power button and that's it.

The maps are a bit of a disappointment: it could not navigate me home! It tries to take me down a street whose northen and southern sections do not connect. This street has been like that since before I moved into the area almost 20 years ago. This may be the only street it screws up on, but it happens to be one I checked.

The SW that loads onto a PDA could be better. For example, I can enter a "favorite" by street address. Once I have done that, the "Manage Favorites" menu won't tell me what address I had entered. So one cannot confirm that it is correct, nor try to edit it. If I need to read the manul to do this, then the interface is not very good!

The overall impression is still positive. The system generally functions well and usually takes me in a logical path from here to there.
