5 out of 5 stars Real Estate agents dream   July 24, 2008
I have had this product for several months. I tried various GPS solutions because I am a real estate agent and appraiser and need to find properties all over town (metro Atlanta). My favorite feature is multiple stop routing, although it can be hard to find. To use this feature you enter a final destination, let it plan the route. After its done, you go to the Route Details, edit, and then add additional stops. You can manually order the stops they way you want, or you can have it order them for the most efficient route.

The other great feature is the traffic alerts/information. In a high traffic city like Atlanta, this is huge. It takes account traffic when planning the fastest route, so while I-285 might be the best one part of the day its the slowest other times of day. It's great that this is service is not an extra cost. Ditto for fuel prices, however, I'm disappointed list doesn't take into account your current route direction. No one want's to backtrack for a fill-up.

One big area for imporovement is routing to Outlook contacts. Very confusing and there is no quick way to jump down the list. You must scroll from A to Z.

Connectivity is usually quick. The only issues I have are phone related (ATT 8525) and the bluetooth radio not picking up devices. Another, likely phone related issue is connecting the GPS while also using a bluetooth headset. Sometimes it works other times it doesn't. Again I blame the phone.

How would I compare this to a stand alone Garmein or other GPS unit? A push. With this you get features that would get with the top of the line units, like traffic, fuel prices, multiple stops. If you forget to put the receive away, a thief is not likely to smash in you window to steal the receiver. One big minus is that taking a call while driving, while dangerous in the first place, it means your also not going to know where your going. This is going to be a big deal for people who talk on cell while driving. Another big minus, compared to some stand alone units, it does not speak street names. It just says take a left in 1000 ft. instead of take a left on Peachtree Rd in 1000 ft.

Bottom line I love the portability of this small cig lighter size receiver. I'm always going to have my phone with me so if I'm out with friends, family, its not big deal to stick this into my pocket. Battery life is great. The traffic updates are awesome, and in Atlanta pretty up to date. The icing on the cake for real estate agents, or anyone else who needs to plan the best route for multiple stops, is the route optimization that you would otherwise have to buy the top of the line stand alone units to get.

3 out of 5 stars Great unit if purchased original from Garmin   June 22, 2008
The item is super light weight, charges quickly (once you purchase the necessary USB to mini USB 5 pin cable--not included) and holds a charge as described. Worked great with pda and laptop both, but only after acquiring required software from other sources. Buyer beware if purchasing "mounted version" from around here, that means "Receiver ONLY" and your item will arrive w/unit, battery, belt clip, and CAR charger. The unit does turn itself off after about 20 minutes (probably part of the reason it has a phenomenal 22hr battery charge) and that gets a bit annoying. Good versatile little receiver tho.

4 out of 5 stars just perfect   June 20, 2008
The price/benefit equation is perfect. The only negative comment is that it doesnt come with a standard USB to MiniUSB cable to charge it on any computer.

4 out of 5 stars Works okay w/ Treo 680   September 28, 2007

I like the product but the software seems to be too much for my Treo 680 sometimes. It'll occasionally freeze or reset. Other than that, I love it.

5 out of 5 stars Garmin 10x and Palm TX   June 8, 2007

I am using the 10x with a Palm TX and with Garmin Mobile XT as software and they work fantastic, is just like using a nuvi or Street Pilot.
Very quick to access the satellites, I have an old Etrex Legend and it take a lot of time ot get a position, but the 10x just does it in a minute.
