 OK but not perfect July 14, 2008
This worked well for recording speed, distance and HR. I especially liked it for rollerblading. My only complaint is with the software. Make sure you record your workout accurately on the unit 'cause it's really difficult to edit afterward. (i.e. - if you start a run in "cycling" mode then change to "running" mode halfway through you'll end up with two workouts.) Other than that, it's a GPS. It works in the trees, but not as well as under open skies. It slightly under-records speed and distance under the trees under twisty trails because of the rounding.

I'm a relatively new runner, in training for a marathon. I am blown away by all that this product does, in such a small package and at a reasonable price. I love it. After I run I connect it to my laptop and it shows how fast I ran, how far, reports on my heart rate, etc. Simply amazing. Highly recommended.

I recently purchased my Forerunner 305 after getting a lot of suggestions from running pals of mine. I love it! It is a great training aid, and it gives a lot of wonderful information about your run that can only serve to make you better over time. The GPS is wonderful for getting accurate information about distance and speed and the enclosed computer program allows you to set up a training schedule and workouts based on distances, intensity levels, and even tracks your routes for you. I used it for the first time in a race this weekend and I ran a personal best. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to improve their training times. I also suggest purchasing the foot pod along with the 305 if you are wanting to do any training indoors, where the GPS won't function. It is well worth the investment!

The cost-benefit is amazing, and after some trainings I just can't run anymore without it.
