Very Good Digital Recording Turntable June 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The product is designed to perform as advertised. I purchased the turntable about four months ago. The first album I ever digitized was out of print. The software, Cakewalk, came with easy instructions for operating with Vista. I hooked the turntable up to my lap top and I had no problems. Everything sounded beautifully. I never thought it would be so easy. I am not a DJ, so if the pitch is slightly off, I wouldn't know. Everything sounds fine to me. I have recorded several albums now and everything is so simple, that I can multi-task recording in one room while cooking in another. Also, if you are digiziting old records, you will probably needed the volume boosted. The Cakewalk Software has such a tool. However, if you have 78s that you would like to record, this is not the turntable for you. It only plays 33 and 45s. I will not count that against this turntable because it was not designed to do that. Anyway, I now have my digiziting music on my MP3 player. Great product.

Not only is this a boon to someone whose old turntable was useless without a preamp, but Audio Technica promptly replaced a cracked dust cover NO QUESTIONS ASKED. A great purchasing experience
Issues with turntable and cakewalk software June 22, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The product arrived in a timely fashion and was well packaged. Due to my travel schedule I was not able to open the package and try out the product for 4-5 weeks. Thus, I held off writing the review. On the initial pass of setting up the turntable, I had no trouble following the instructions. However, only one track of the stereo feed (Right) seems to work. In addition, the instructions from the turntable manufacturer show options in the cakewalk software that do not appear on the screen to record and stop the recording. Of course, it could be that I have not configured the sofware correctly and that causes cakewalk to omit those options. After working with it for 2-3 hours trying to get the software to build the .mp3 file from the LP , I finally gave up. I could see the right track showing up on cakewalk as the LP played, but cakewalk never displayed the option to start the recording. Perhaps I will have better luck the next time I have 2-3 hours to fiddle with it and call tech support (not sure who yet). I have a large library of 33's and 45's and want to get this working. But I am not in a rush to get it done and that is probably working against me. I am not a novice at computers and expected the install to work as advertised. Unfortunately I have not been successful as of yet and some of that could be my problem. You should be ready to spend some time experimenting with things that are beyond the instructions.
Audio Technica AT-LP2DUSB LP-to-Digital Recording System June 16, 2008 I'm very pleased with the product. About the only negative factor is its inability to work with 78 rpm records.
Save the music June 12, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was wondering how well this would work with some of LP's that have been used and abused over the last 40 some years. Took it out of the box, loaded the Cakewalk Pyro software and connected the turntable and speakers to my computer and set to work recording a 37 year old LP. The turntable worked great, the software was reasonably easy to work with and soon I had my first digital transfer. The sound was clear and even surprised my son when he heard it, I can now salvage the 400 to 500 LP's that I have collected over the years. You can't beat the price or the product if you are looking for a way to save a collection that you have amassed over the years and wish to continue enjoying.
