Jack of All Trades and Master of Nothing July 18, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have been using a very tired, beat up, and abused 3rd gen iPod for years now... Because it works. The thing is absolutely bulletproof. I bought the iPod touch hoping to have the same results plus You Tube, Safari, etc. But the Wifi is so unreliable that the apps only serve as a constant reminder of what you would like to have but can't.
So, the old lesson is learned again. Reliability beats cool looks every time.
The iPod touch will go on the shelf, and I'll dig out the 3rd gen and keep using it until it dies. Save your money on this one - something more reliable will come along someday.
Four Months Later and I'm Still Learning to Love It July 17, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
When my husband encouraged me to buy the iPod touch I couldn't help but wonder why I'd pay nearly $300 for an MP3 player. (I think on a basic use level like that.) I'd been perfectly happy with my iPod Nano for a couple of years, why switch?
For one, he wanted to test it out.
For two, it really is incredibly cool to use.
And for three, I keep discovering new ways to use it all the time.
I haven't even tapped into the power it has to manage my appointments or navigate me around. It's like a personal secretary and On-star in one...not to mention a music and video player and photo album and iTunes store.
Just about the only complaint I have with this device is in the music mode. Why doesn't the darn thing allow me to hit 'repeat' on a song? I had this issue with the Nano too. Seems like such a little thing (the issue that is). Sure I can hit the back button, but, seriously, this is/was a standard feature with most every cd player so why not iPod.
Overall, for those willing to spend the money--even if they aren't gadget geeks--they'll likely find an enjoyable personal pal in the iPod Touch.
GREAT!!! July 17, 2008 Love it! What a great product. Elegant, simple and loaded with usable programs I waited for this generation before buying and am very happy with my choice. thanks mac
I LOVE MY NEW iTOUCH!!!! July 16, 2008 I recently purchased the 32g iTouch and absolutely love it! I can sync with my Outlook calendar and contacts, etc. and be able to check my email. Now all Apple needs to do is have more 3rd party software available, i.e., Word and Excel and I'm completely mobile! I love all the features...Video, music and photos. I can streamline everything with iTunes. Just wish it wasn't so pricey, but I got mine at a steal these days...$459 from AMAZON!
Warning, Software upgrade is not v2.0 July 15, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Warning, the "software upgrade" is not version 2.0 of the iPod touch software. Even as of July 14, 2008, you will have to pay $9.95 for the current version of the iPod touch operating system. Apple customer care representatives I talked to could not explain why a newly purchased iPod touch did not include the current v2.0 software. I am not sure if Apple will try this marketing gaff on their other products, that is they ship the old version of the OS, and make you pay extra for the current version.
