Samsung Lcd October 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pros:
- Great quality with HDTV input - Great method to update firmware through usb port - Frame is nice (touch of red) - Bought this and a 7 series, but prefer the 6 series because it does not have the halo effect around the frame) - Regular cable looks good. Somewhat pixelated, but good.
Cons:
- Red might be too bright when sunlight hits - Fine scratches show up everywhere on the frame, but can only be seen close up
Very good TV.....Can't find any fault with it October 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this TV last month (sep 2008). This is the first that I bought a LCD TV. After reading a lot of reviews, doing research, comparing the TV, visiting the stores, etc I bought this TV which gives the max for the price (compared to Sony).
When I turned on the TV for the very first time with HD box, wow.....amazing!!! Its clearer than watching people standing in front of you. The picture quality is awesome. I mainly bought for football season. You can see even the glass blades of the field turf. It is crystal clear.
I gave 4 stars since I don't know what Sony might be offering. I did my best research and bought this. Since I can't be perfect, I gave 4 stars. But it is worth every penny.
Next...I have to buy home theater.
Before you this expensive TV....do lot of research. Go to stores. Compare the prices. Don't buy TV just based on one review. Some people like some TVs and some don't. But for sports......this is THE best TV as it has 120 hz option.
You will not be disappointed October 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After many months of research and driving my wife nuts, we bought the Samsung 650 series 120 Hz LCD 52". The picture is amazing. In HD the people look like they will jump right out of the screen. Everything has exceeded my expectations.
The shipping was fantastic too. I ordered the TV on a Thursday night, and received it that next Tuesday. I am so impressed.
If there is anything to look negatively at are the speakers. Since they are at the bottom, the sound is a bit soft, but it is not bad in the least. Do not let that sway you from a terrific TV.
Incredible! October 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had this television for only three days, and it's incredible! I've "made due" with a 36" Hitachi Ultravision for almost 7 years, routing my PC through it, and the sound through a Kenwood amp. After reading the reviews and comparing for almost 6 months, I finally bought it and an X-box 360. The delivery left much to be desired, since the company sent a single old man to deliver the tv, so I had to help him carry it up the stairs, and then he flatly refused to stand by while I opened the box to veryify the television was functional and undamaged saying rather rudely "I don't have time for that."
Luckily, it was fine, and the television quality is incredible. My PC games and applications are eye-searingly bright and detailed, and the X-box 360, connected by HDMI brings a tear to my eye.
PROS: Plenty of HDMI inputs, PiP, PC inputs, and a swivel base makes it easy to connect cables. I haven't had the glare problems that others have complained about. The picture is phenomenal, particularly when viewed with a HD signal.
CONS: The remote has a wheel similar to the iPod, but far less responsive. It lasks a single PiP button that you can hit, instead you have to go through an annoying menu. Other than the delivery service sucking, and the poorly designed remote, you can't go wrong. Worth every penny!
Excellent TV, great options, mediocre speaker sound. September 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After months of shopping around, I bought this TV from Amazon. I did look online at other e-tailers. I was horrified to learn that they sold a TV w/o a stand (just the panel). You also have to PAY for upgrade shipping at other e-tailers. With Amazon, not only did I get the LOWEST price, but I also got a price adjustment TWICE as Amazon dropped $150. The delivery is great, white glove AND it arrived ahead of schedule. Overall a great TV. Connectivity was a bit problematic on the HDMI Port 1. After switching to another port, it worked fine. The picture quality is as promised, if not better. The audio quality is short of weak. If you have a large, vaulted ceiling living room, then it will be difficult to hear the TV, so adding a sound system is a MUST. Also, the remote with the turn-dial is difficult. It is not immediately intuitive, esp if you are used to using buttons for navigation. Overall a great product at the right price. Do read the Cnet review on this to get the optimal settings. I think it's worth the 15 minutes to become familiar w/ it.
