Delphi Boom Box June 9, 2008 I have an older skyfi II, over two years old, new models have come out. I was surprised to find a new boom box that would work for me. It works great and the price was even better. Best Buy had a old floor model, dirty, beat up, for $100.00, the sales kid said they could give me 10% off, I wouldn't have paid $50.00. Then I found the Delphi on Amazon for $25.00, and it's a newer model. Great deal...
Worth $25, and maybe then some. June 4, 2008 After reading several reviews for this product I was almost ready for the worst when it arrived. True, it doesnt play cd's, or even have a regular radio built in. But thats the idea. At $80 I would have a hard time paying that much, but for $25 you can't go wrong. The audio is decent. It won't blow you away with hundreds of watts of power, but it is more than sufficient to have in a room or take outside. I just wanted something I could put on the patio table outside for BBQ's and whatnot. For that it is perfect. If you want tons of sound, then get the home kit. Provided your home stereo is better sounding than this boom box. :) For $25, buy it!
Nice box for the price May 27, 2008 I have a RoadyXT that I use in the truck. Bought the home kit for it but it's only good hooking to a stereo system. The "Bowtie" as we call it was inexpensive, very portable, and goes where ever I need it quickly. Only problem I see is the 10 feet of antenna wire with the XM antenna on the end. In the house it's a pain. However when were in the RV in north central Oregon (Columbia gorge makes satellite service spotty) you can throw it up into a tree and get reception you normally would not get with a built in antenna.
Good for $25, not for $80. May 20, 2008 I like this boombox, but expect what you get. It's only $25, and works perfectly with my XM. The speakers are nothing special and if you ever open this thing up you will find it it's a lot of empty space underneath, could be fun to mod.
The design is very sleek and much better than the other options I've seen out there. Easy to get everywhere and use :) The extendable antenna is very nice, but gets hard to keep on the back once you take it off the first time.
My only major complaint is that the box will not power my wireless headphones. Drives me crazy at work where all I want to do is eliminate wires.
For $25, it's a steal. For $80, it's a lot of fluff.
My XM...on the go! April 29, 2008 I'd been wanting to expand the coverage of my SkyFi2 for some time now... and with the INCREDIBLE price of $24 for the Delphi Boom Box, I couldn't hold out any longer. And once out of the box, I can't stop playing my XM radio. By the pool... to the beach... or just in my living room... my XM now goes where I go. And is no longer chained to my car.
The Boombox is stylish in design, doesn't have the greatest of power but is more than adequate for my needs, and is light and extremely portable (obviously). And swapping out the SkyFi2 unit is simple and effortless.
My only complaint is how the antenna cable is handled. I only have to unravel it when using it at home (since my living room doesn't get as strong a signal), but having to remove the battery cover, which is almost the entire bottom of the unit, and then manually unravel the cord from around the two pegs is VERY tedious, and quite archaic. Retractable self-winding cords have been around in our products for DECADES! So how is it neglected here?? Not only would it save space in the unit, 99.9% of the owners of this Boombox would love it 10 times more if they had included such a feature. As it is, I find myself with 20 feet of cord, lying in a pile because I'm tired of winding and then unwinding it over and over again as I take it from home to any other mobile use. Very annoying.
Overall, though... for all that it does, and at THAT price, I can not complain much. It does exactly what is expected of it... allows me to take my XM wherever I go, and make the most out of my monthly payment. Awesome. :D
