Good radio December 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great radio, this was actually a replacement for one that was stolen from my car. I like the features and the design. The size was one of the main reasons I got it, if you are looking for a radio that looks good on the dash board of your car or in the living room, this is the radio.
Nice little radio December 10, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like this radio, but am disappointed that the FM modulator is disabled when you plug it in the optional home dock. The phone support was very good in helping me resolve my setup issues. The SureConnect is a messy bunch of wires to have hanging all over your dash area however.
Terrific receiver; poor cassette adapter November 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This little receiver is great! It was a relatively easy installation and I had XM up and running in no time. I'm using the cassette adapter because it made the installation much easier than using the SureConnect FM Modulatator. There has been a lot of noise and my cassette player is constantly attempting to reverse the cassette and play the other side like it does when a tape has reached the end of Side A. Everytime it does this, the XM programming is interrupted. At one point, this was happening every 10 to 15 seconds. Very annoying. The problem is in the cassette adapter. The wheels are too stiff and don't move smoothly so that is causing the problem. Fortunately, I had both a Sony and a Koby cassette adapter I have used with my MP3 player and I decided it try them. Both worked great -- no problems whatsoever -- but I preferred the sound of the Sony. Since switching over to the Sony cassette adapter, the Roady has performedly flawlessly. No unnecessary cassette noise, no interruptions, just great satellite radio. To be fair, I didn't call XM and give them a chance to replace the cassette adapter so I don't know what their customer service is like.
Pleased in Crystal River October 6, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My new car came with XM Satellite in its radio system, and I became so used to listening to uninterrupted music of my choice, that I bought a portable unit for my home. I am VERY pleased with my Roady Portable
Good Radio unsure about sureconnect September 15, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I upgraded from an older Roady 2 primarily because I wanted to buy a boom box or some sort of home player for my XMradio. (see my review of the Altec Lansin 3120 Player) So I guess you could say I like the Roady concept.
It is prettier and seems more rugged. It's certainly less expensive (I paid $100 for the old Roady 2). Aside from minor cosmetic differences and a 'plug and play' style connection system, it's pretty much the same radio.
The old Roady 2 remote works better with it than it did with the Roady 2, a couple of buttons don't seem to work (Most all do though) , but the XT seems more sensitive to the remote. The Remote was almost unusable with the old Roady 2 so I finally feel like I've got a decent remote for my XM.
The sattelite antenna uses the same connector so all my old home use antennas and auto antennas work with the new radio.
I'm not so sure about SureConnect though. I've installed it according to the instructions on my Honda CRV, and as near as I can tell it is still sending the signal through the FM modulator because when I change the FM channel on the radio, the station changes. The SureConnect instructions tell you how to install, but there is no description of how it is supposed to work.
I think the problem is my Honda antenna has a plastic coating around the whip part, but I have no intention of scraping that off to find out. The FM Modulator is what I've been using all along, the sound is plenty good with it, but I do wish I could avoid having to change FM frequencies every so often. My Honda cassete play just doesn't seem to like those cassette converters either, so I'm stuck with FM modulation, I guess.
All in all, I'm happy with my purchase. I love my XM service, yes there ARE a LOT of wires, and if all you want is a basic reciever that can use a home player or boom box, this is a good selection.
