Affordable and accurate December 29, 2007 It does not have all of the fancy features that the higher priced ones have but if your main concern is getting from point A to point B, the 200W works great. It still has features I am figuring out but I have been able to find restaurants, hotels, and other points of interest very easily. A great GPS for a great price.
works great December 29, 2007 Arrived promptly and in good condition. I have used it several times and it works great! It is easy to use and makes travel much more pleasant!
GREAT GPS December 28, 2007 The Garmin is great. Easy to set up and easy to use. Would highly recommend it to everyone.
very detailed and accurate December 28, 2007
I've used on several trips never a problem or error I have the 200W and its extra width is easy on my eyes I really like this GPS
Great, but not perfect. December 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really like this gps. I was going to get the garmin c340 (text-to-speech, 3.5" screen) but after hearing about the screen washing out in the sun, I opted for this one. The screen is insanely bright, which i love. Also im glad i got the 4.3 inch because i can see more of what is around.
I have a few complaints though. -I dont like the 3d mode. It sucks and its more cluttered and confusing. Ill stick to the 2d thank you very much. -I still wish it had TTS, but looking 1 foot over at the screen isnt a big deal. (Note: Most of my driving is done in suburbia, so I can look down at the screen and back up quite easily. However, if I lived in a major metro area, I would STRONGLY consider getting one with TTS. The streets are a lot closer, so "turn right in 400 feet" wont help at all. Also looking the screen in a city is pretty dangerous due to all the lights, cars, bikers, people, etc. and you could could hit something in the one second you are looking at the screen. just a word to the wise) -When searching for places via spell name (esp restaurants and shopping) finding POI's take FOREVER, as in like 2-3 minutes. By the time it finds matches im either in another town or im not hungry anymore. Lame. (although im impressed with the number of places it has in the system and like that it gives you numbers) -When you turn, the gps does the turn all glitchy and non smoothly. (but i think all gps's do this so i cant fault garmin too much for this).
about the accessories. They suck, straight up -the power cord is ugly and unsightly hanging down from your window. I wish the darn gps would also turn off when i turn my car off instead of making me press that button. -the windsheild mount is too short so theres no good spot for it. (i drive an 01 chrysler concorde and the window angle is very actute as in like 20 degrees) -if you do use the disc mount you better be sure you're gonna keep it there forever because once its on its pretty much impossible to remove. the manual warns you of this.
Im getting an air vent mount. its the best solution because... 1. its not blocking your view of the road. 2. its more withing reach of your hand 3. you dont have an ugly black cord hanging in your face. 4. its inexpensive (i bought one for 10 bucks) 5. its easier to remove then the windshield mount 6. you dont have to worry about wiping circles caused by residue on your window to unattract thieves
anyway, back to the gps.
I have a standalone mp3 player, bluetooth enabled phone, etc. so i didnt need all that [...] thats in the more expensive nuvis. I do wish it had the MSN Direct feature that has gas prices, movie times, wether, etc. but thats a different stoy for a different day.
overall im happy with this buy and this gps is great for people who need just that, a gps and plan to stay in the US+ PR for most of their lives.
