5 out of 5 stars First GPS, couldn't be happier!!   December 23, 2007

The 200W is easier to use than I feared. I had seen a few of my friends GPS units, and I did not want every bell and whistle. This is my first GPS.

I am quite impressed that when I know an easier way home than the verbal instructions given by the unit, and take the easier route, the next time I am at that intersection, the unit has "learned" my preferred route. If I take a different route, within 50 feet, the unit announces "recalculating".

I'd checked that Garmin was the brand to buy, and I have no regrets. I'm looking forward to some long trips, so that I can check it out "in action".

very impressed by this unit for the price. comes fully loaded. works everywhere. has great features. I have other Garmin products and this was much better that expected because of the low price...

3 out of 5 stars Could Be Better   December 22, 2007
Ive used this unit for about 1 month. Its a very well designed unit. Ez to learn and Ez to use. However, its starting to take an inordinate amount of time to find a satellite. This unit does very well navigating to commercial establishments. However, when navigating to residential areas will send u down deadend streets and the opposite direction on one way streets. I have previously used a Garmin 530 and dont remember getting errors like this. This unit kinda reminds me of the newer Magellan units how it sends users down deadends and opposite directions on one way streets.

5 out of 5 stars Everything I had hoped for....   December 22, 2007
I've had my 200W for only a few weeks, but it has been very useful so far. Easy to learn to use, reliable instructions, good graphics, lots of POIs, and a nice wide display for someone with vision less than 20/20. The value was good; the 200 is selling in stores right now for more than I paid for my 200W. My son just returned to Michigan from a ski trip to Colorado. He used it reliably to pick up 2 passengers along the way in Chicago, to find motels at the half-way points going both ways, and to get to the resort itself. He also commented that it was useful to find local eateries so he wouldn't have to rely on fast-food drive throughs. All in all, if this unit came up missing during his trip, I would have replaced it with the same model.

I had no prior experience with GPS, and there might be additional features that would be useful, but this model has everything I need.

Shipping was very quick; I had my GPS within 4 days of ordering it with the free shipping option.

4 out of 5 stars Great addition to my life!   December 21, 2007

For the price I don't think you can find a more useful electronic device. I have been wanting a GPS for EVER, but I am so tight on spending money (hate buying anything at retail prices) and I take so long to do my research that I didn't get one until now. Glad I waited! The Garmin Nuvi 200w is a great, better then entry level, GPS I would give it 5 stars if it had text to speech and said the street names for me, but they are printed big accross the top of the screen so whatever! Paid $212.00 on sale at Amazon with free shipping. It has saved me $$$ in gas and time finding locations I have never been to. It did take me to a Bed Bath & Beyond that didn't exist on the side of a highway, but we just laughed at that and went to the next one in the list which it found flawlessly. Maps are great, screen size is awesome, the theft protection is pretty cool unless you enter the wrong pin once away from your "security spot" then you have to return there to reset it. . .hmmm be careful to acurately and slowly enter the pin! The mount for the windshield is very small and works great in every vehicle I have been in with it now. I love this thing and never leave home without it now, don't know how I lived without it before? I know there are alot of others that offer all kinds of features like MP3 players and all but for the money this unit serves every need I have for a GPS. The SD card slot is nice addon. It also hands down beat my friends Tom Tom One 3rd edition, and nicely stacked up with another friends Nuvi 350 which he paid considerably more for. Very pleased with this purchase!
