5 out of 5 stars sure as shure   April 17, 2008

I dont now who the chap falling asleep is,but I have just purchased this cartridge and find it superb!!
I fitted it to my Technics 1210 tone arm Kef Q1 speakers & Denon 3000v,and found it a fantastic performer.
I am one of those crazy englishmen that has collected Northern Soul for at least fourty years, and believe me,you just do not get music in most instances, much louder than that!!
This cartridge picks out all the high soaring strings while still retaining the bass line-perfect.
Perhaps turning up the old amp would help the gentleman.

While I am pleased with the Shure phono cartridge and the prompt service of J&R Music & Computer World, I preferred the sound quality and separation of my mid-70's vintage AudioTechnica 100. Given the opportunity to listen and compare, I would probably have purchased a different cartridge. For the price though, the Shure, $69.99 including shipping, is hard to beat.

5 out of 5 stars Well worth the wait - Best bang for my buck   February 13, 2008

The SHURE M97xE (M97) audiophile phonograph cartridge gives nearly as good of sound quality (tonally) as my SHURE V15 Type III (V15) at half the cost, thanks to Amazon.com and their Featured Merchants. In order to off-load some ware and tare on my V15 I purchased this M97 cartridge and found it to track as well with a sound quality that is indistinguishable, listening, except when using a SHURE Test LP album with analysis software on my computer to determine frequency response. On already worn LP's the Dynamic Stabilizer brush is a fantastic component to the M97 allowing the cartridge to track better then the even the V15 on my old roller coaster (warped) albums. Lastly the M97 cartridge uses an aluminum mounting block to attach the cartridge to the head-shell of the turntable, another nice feature, - no long screws required as with my V15 cartridge making less tone arm mass and again aiding better tracking. I did wait a little longer for delivery - because of demand for these cartridges (with the merchant) but at the price, quality (tracking and tonal) it was "Well worth the wait". And again thanks to Amazon.com and their Feature Merchant program, also, "The Best Bang for my buck".

5 out of 5 stars I'm really happy w this cartridge   December 11, 2007

I love this cartridge. The lint guard makes for a perfectly soft landing on the surface of the record, because it hangs down just below the needle, and then as the cartridge hits the record, the lint brush touches first, and then softly retracts until the needle hits. It's really a great design. And the cartridge sounds great too. The perfect compliment to my Technics SL1200.

3 out of 5 stars nice sounding cartridge   December 11, 2007

I compare this cartridge to a V-15 type 4. At first I thought there was an audible difference. But then I edited together segments from one song played on a Technics SL-1200 MK2 turntable alternating which cartridge was used. Then I had trouble telling them apart by sound alone.
