| Customer Reviews:
What a Piece of Junk July 2, 2008 I bought this to Replace a Worn Out Skyfi2 that wouldn't work anymore. I have a Roady XT in my other car, So in Hindsight I should have gotten another Roady XT. I went with the SkyFi3 cause I found the SkyFi2 to more than sufficient.
What I don't Like.
(1)Unit Constantly Locks up from Day 1 -- Still Locks up after updating the Firmware. It gets tiring having to keep resetting the unit.
(2)Delphi used the cheapest materials they could possibly find when building this unit, The Buttons don't always work when pushed, then You find yourself pushing real hard just to be able to change stations, And forget about the remote, It's the same story here.
(3)To this day I've yet to be able to save anything to channel '1' or '9' When you are in the "channel save" mode, pressing either of these 2 channels only causes the unit to revert back to the XM preview channel.
(4)The fact I need to connect to the internet and 'update' the unit. The Skyfi2 wasn't designed to do this and I never, ever had a problem with it until it quit working after 3 years of daily use.
(5)The SD Card Mp3 player, If I wanted to listen to MP3's I'd buy an MP3 player instead of a Satellite Radio. I bought the radio to listen to XM why would some idiot think this was a great feature to include? I'm beginning to think this is what causes the unit to Lockup consistently, cause when it Locks up, It is always on the "Checking For Media" screen at startup.
What I like about the Unit:
Absolutely nothing other than it does occasionally tune in XM Radio.
In Short STAY AWAY from this Junk -- Find a Roady XT or even an old SkyFi2 if you want a good radio. It seems the idea was to offer something more, But the idea failed Big Time.
Hit or Miss June 30, 2008 I purchased the skyfi for use in the office. I got tired of my office radio and listening to the same 5 or 6 commercials followed by the same 5 or 6 songs. I am to lazy to download songs into an IPOD. This is the car unit and does not come with the home setup which I had to purchase separately for $25. It worked poorly in my car and not at all in my home but flawlessly in the office. Yes, I had problems with the unit locking up and there is no clear way to reset the unit. I think the locking up has to do with signal strength. In my office I am lucky enough to be on the right side of the building where the signal is strong and hence the unit is performing as expected.
Ok product June 27, 2008 Pretty good receiver. Easy install. Just having some trouble with selecting favorites after I programed them. Also sound quality leave a bit to be dis ired.
okay June 17, 2008 This is a very goode little gadget. It's a great way to listen to radio...but it's commercial free. That's a good thing about this. But, it does freeze up at lease a couple times a week. It still plays the song while it's frozen but you can't use any of the functions at all. So, usually what I have to do is unplug it and plug it back in about 2 minutes later that way it can refresh itself. Other that that. I like it. You can also record songs off the radio so you can listen to them on the go if you don't have the antenna with it.
customer service is a joke June 15, 2008 Radio takes alot out of you when trying to deal with XM "listener care" skyfi 3 has lots of bells and whistles but have fun trying to dial them in. thats why XM is dumping them for a low price, delphi made another bad product. Once XM gets your money and overcharges you for socalled 3 month prepay and 6.99 a month for additional radio lies, your on your own. the best way to deal with this radio is have it professionally installed with an FM direct module (i installed this myself) and play with it using the manual. the asian listener care personnel are zero help in any category. this is true for and part of XM. 800-XMRADIO gets you only to the phillipines and have fun trying to get thier broken english, frustration level......98 out of 100
