4 out of 5 stars Easy Home Network Connection   July 26, 2008
I needed to connect a home computer that is located in a space "behind" a refrigerator--wireless (b/g, n) just won't go there through all that metal. These modules work well, with no real setup required. Connection speed is adequate for almost all uses except some high-bandwidth video. And the cost was well below alternatives. The connection does drop out occasionally, most likely due to interference from something else in the wiring, but my previous attempt with another manufacturer's modules wouldn't connect at all. Four stars only because of the occasional drop-outs.

4 out of 5 stars Works great with a tweak or 2.   July 21, 2008
I bought this product on the reconmidation of other shoppers. The other reviews were on point with ease of use and speed. I love the fact that it uses a cord and not just the unit plugs into the wall and that you can test the speed on the unit itself. I just wanted to let other shoppers know that you can't half step on the directions or it will seem not to work or work poorly. When I first plugged it up I was getting very bad speeds or not connecting at all. So I had to make sure the stuff plugged into the same wall outlet with it were on a filtered surge protector. The problem was that I had all that stuff on a power strip. Once I switched it out all worked great. I get 2 bars for speed ( 10 - 30 mbps). I wanted to use it to hook my new Directv HD DVR to the internet. Now I don't know if it was the DVR or the power network but it didn't just plug in and work. So I had to set a static IP with the other settings to make it work ok. So if this is what you are getting it for get these settings off your pc (look at portforward.com to see how).

5 out of 5 stars THIS IS GREAT   July 5, 2008
It works perfectly. Thank you for shipping fast too. I love it. I now need more.

4 out of 5 stars Panasonic Powerline Adapter   July 1, 2008
My previous D-link powerline ethernet adaptor could not be upgraded to Vista. I thought I would try the Panasonic adaptor since it was self-synching and required no software. Unlike trhe D-link unit it did not work when the remote adaptor was plugged into an outlet in the same room as my computer. However, it worked fine when using an outlet in the next room, but this necessitated running an ethernet cable between the two rooms. It has been working fine without any loss of synch problems that I experienced frequently with my D-link product. In general I am very satisfied with this product. The alternative would have been to add a range extender for my wireless network which would have been a much more expensive option condering the very low Amazon price for the Pansonic powerline units.

1 out of 5 stars Might not work for people living in apartments   June 29, 2008
I had high hopes when I ordered this item from Amazon. To my dismay (and as stated by many in reviews) this device is a really poor performer if you live in an apartment complex where home-wiring is a little complex. I ditched the powerline option and got a DLink wireless router D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router. I had a linksys but this one blew me away with its performance. So if Wireless is an option and you live in an apartment complex, stick to WiFi...
