| Customer Reviews:
Waste of money August 4, 2008 I purchased this Garmin for my spouse. Once the GPS was installed into her car, we discovered the street we live on was not in the "maps" in the device. She contacted Garmin for updated maps and was informed she would need to purchase them for around $75. After discussing the issue of having an up to date product for customers to buy, we decided to return it to the retailer.
Amazingly Great Value August 2, 2008 We started using it the moment it arrived. It's easy to set-up, easy to use. The suction device that holds it to the windshield works really well. It's suggested routes to locations in nearby cities are better than the more common routes I have used in the past. I've been using it in rural northern Michigan and it knows every road up here! The fear of getting lost is gone. I never have to ask directions again, just get an address and you're done!
Very User Friendly August 1, 2008 The Garmin StreetPilot C340, my not be the latest thing on the market, but it works great, Just put in the address where you want to go, & it takes you right to the location. I wish I had one of these, 20 years ago !!!
Thanks Garmin & Amazon.........A. Gray Indiana, USA
garmin street pilot July 29, 2008 Easy to operate. Information is mostly accurate, but there are restuarants that are out of busines for over two years in there and places that are over two years old that are not there. We loose sat contact on 75% of our trips for a short period of time. Time to location very good.
Napoleon did well! July 28, 2008 The title is a reference to the great commercial Garmin had during the Super Bowl. (A tiny driverless car speeds around Paris to techno music...all the while depending on the Garmin for directions. When the car finally reaches its destination you see that the driver is actually a tiny Napoleon who gets on a tiny horse.) With the notorious French pride I'm surprised that a French company would make fun of France.
My review: I purchased the Garmin because I moved cross country to Seattle. I've used this device every day for about 6 months and love it. I especially love that I can type in "coffee" or "books" and it will pull up all of the businesses with that word in their name. You can even type in part of the name (if you want to go to Home Depot you are able to type "home de" and have the same result).
My one frustration is that you cannot search cross streets (i.e. 2nd Avenue at Denny). You must have a specific address on the street to get the map. I believe, though, that any of the devices with the cross street function are significantly more expensive and this was a great pricepoint.
