4 out of 5 stars Nuvi 760   May 2, 2008

The first nuvi 760 I recieved worked for 3 days then the screen froze up. Kudo's to Amazon on the speed and hassel free replacement. 2nd unit has been great with no problems. The software doesn't always take me the way I would go when leaving my home but, The destinations have always been right on target. The traffic alerts have been very good also.

This nuvi DOES NOT WORK WITH MY MAC. I was unable to use the storage (MP3 player, photos, user points of interest, etc.) because it would not talk to my Mac. I could load but never unload MP3 files. I sent Garmin emails but they never responded. The map software was at least two years out of date for my area (SF Bay). Stores, roads, malls, etc. were not in the database. The Bluetooth worked well and was easy to use, but the sound could not go through the car speakers unless you were listening to something from the nuvi. If you were listening to the radio the phone did not go through the speakers.

4 out of 5 stars ALL IN ALL A GOOD PRODUCT   April 28, 2008

I am happy over all with this product. Though I think for such a pricey item there would be a little more attention to detail. When you decide to pay the extra money for a "better" piece of equipment, you should expect to recieve just that. This is one of the most expensive GPS recievers and i have noteds the following quirks...
1) Volume: Its not loud enough by any means. If you have your radio on even the slightest bit you wont hear the dings and whatnot.
2) Ample time for notification: This device seems to get confused at times. Though I can only compare to one other model as far as portable models go, I had to slow down and really listen getting back from the airport last month.
3) Confusion AGAIN! Since this was a present for my girlfriend, it is of course in her car to replace the one that got stolen. It brought her down a dead end and told her to drive into the woods. Good thing she hadnt been drinking right?!?
4) With the speaker.. it also crackles... and hard to use bluetooth.. if you place it right it works though
Other than that its very user friendly... Calculates lightning fast in comparison with other handhelds. nice map detail... Long battery life after a good charge... Gives good directions and you get to choose from a few different voices with the stock program. Please note I dont know how long it was boxed before I made the purchase. And I havent do

4 out of 5 stars Could be the best investment in electronics.   April 28, 2008

I sold my Garmin Nuvi 360 to get this 760 and for the most part I am satisfied however I miss my Nuvi 360's WAAS enabled accuracy. Pressing and holding the signal bar will show you the accuracy of the satellites determining your position and a side by side comparison with my friends 360 confirms the 360 always shows around 6-12 feet accuracy while my 760 since theres no option available to enable WAAS shows 15-24 feet accuracy. WAAS may already be enabled in the 760.....and it may be since it doesnt have a flip antenna like the 360 that the accuracy is less... however rubberbanding (please search google for rubberbanding on Nuvi's for further info)along with less accuracy may deter one away from this product which otherwise takes you just a few feet away from where ever you may want to go.

4 out of 5 stars Overall a good product.   April 27, 2008

This product was easy to use. Most controls and settings were intuitive but it should have come with a preprinted manual. You could download and print the manual but for the cost it should have been included. It worked as stated most of the time. It was able to find not only the address you were looking for but could also locate many nearby restaurants, gas stations, churches, lodgings and attractions quickly. Rarely, it had the wrong map at the street level. Its biggest fault was that it would not let you change the route that it had picked. It generally picked the best route, even better than you could do by looking at a map, but you could not alter this route without changing your destination. Overall a good product which I would purchase again.
