Nice, but it has problems July 10, 2008 This is an easy to operate printer. The major downfall I have experienced is software problems. It has caused WORD 2007 and Internet Explorer to continually crash. I am still trying to get the problem resolved. I have had the printer about two weeks, and if it is not resolved, I will have no choice but to return it. That would be sad becuase the features are nice and easy to operate. HP does seem to have software problems, as I have seen this on the microsoft website.
JUNK! July 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This printer is junk. Do not buy it. A nightmare to set up if you want to take advantage of its wireless feature. Mine broke down after 6 mos--ink system failure. Well-intentioned but unintelligible support sent a replacement which never even made it through initial set-up (carriage jam). I would return it if I could. NUMEROUS and lengthy calls to HP--also a NIGHTMARE!
Nice Printer! June 30, 2008 Does it all well... it seems HP just has printing down. Prints pictures, documents, copies, scans, fax. Whatever you would need, easily from one machine. We used to make copies by scanning them and then printing. Having a machine that can make "photo copies" is so much easier. No need to "accept" scanned image, or possibly edit the scanner setting to get the image to copy correctly.
In our place, wireless (WiFi) printing is a necessity. (Printer is too far away from router to connect there). And it's fairly simple to set up. I just wish that when you're setting it up to work with your 128 bit WEP security, you could set it with a passphrase instead of having to enter 26 keys. That can be a bit of challenge. You can easily forget to type a key, and going back to find what you missed is a bit of a pain. Now granted, I could have done it with a flash key... anyway, it's worth the trouble to set it up. And if you ARE connecting directly to your computer with a USB cable, that won't be an issue for you.
Also, fax works fine with VONAGE, I just have to set FAX speed to 9600. Slow by today's standard (33,600)... but if you have telephony, the 9600 baud rate allows you to fax.
So go ahead and buy it, you know you want to!
9/22/08 UPDATE
We have since upgraded our wireless to "N". And the HP Photosmart 7280 works flawlessly with my Netgear RangeMax Next WNDR3300 N router. AND with the "N" security, I was able to type in the passphrase... MUCH easier than the WEP 128 bit set up for wireless G.
I know some people have complained about how slow it can take to print. But it's all in the settings. I can either print immediately, or spool it so it takes longer to start. Just need to read directions. And yes, printer software can be a bit hinkey, but I haven't found that ANY printer software has been that great for the last ten years. The best printing program used to be a free version of adobe photoshop they used to distribute YEARS ago... but you can't get ANYTHING like that now for less than $200. Such is progress... anyway, printer still performs all tasks needed. Also, there are some preloaded printing templates that are great for printing child rule school papers, or graph paper... nice extras for learning and studying.
My C7280 was a lemon June 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had the HP C7280 all-in-one for less than six months. I use it at home so it gets very little use, mostly colored text printouts. I have had nothing but frustration with this equipment due to HP hardware problem. It will lock up in the middle of print job and refuse to print or not print at all and I have to go through entire setup routine which may or maynot clear the error message. After contacting HP several times they are now replacing the unit with a "recycled" or refurbished unit and only warranting it for the remainder of the time left on my original unit. I bought it new but they only replace with a used one. Don't think I will be buying their product again.
HP C7280 all-In-One printer June 21, 2008 This printer delivers in all of it's capabilities. Good scanner. Good color printer. Good faxing and faxing software. The Viera inks make printed photos look fairly professional.
I use to not be fond of all-in-one devices, but this one has changed my mind. At these prices you could have a back-up device in case the main all-in-one broke.
