I have been using the Canon CanoScan 8800F for over a month and love the product. Everything that I have scanned has looked great and the scanner is very easy to use. I have been scanning a lot of old black and white negatives with very satisfactory results. For me it is much better than mixing chemicals and working in a darkroom; much cheaper too.

The Canon Scanner work great, but wish that it had a larger scanning
area. I don't like that the OCR software includes the background when
it read the text.

The CanoScan 8800f works flawlessly, starts quickly and XP doesn't erase the software as with the HP 4200. It is faster starts quicker and the software does all that the HP did. haven't tried the slide scanner yet

The Canoscan 8800f is an excellent scanner for photographs, slides, negatives and for creating pdf copies to file. It is also a one button copier. Excellent quality reproduction and very easy to use. I am the treasurer for a local society and keep receipts for our expendatures. This scanner creates pdf copies of receipts and makes it very simple to store receipts electronically. It has allowed me to copy several years of bank statements in a minimum of time.
