5 out of 5 stars Great for printing directly to disk.   May 28, 2008

HP Q8361A#B1H Photosmart Printer
Purchased solely to print on dvd/cd's and at the current Amazon price it is by far the cheapest way to label disks. Get the upgrade "Surething" labeler software and you can create thousands of great labels directly on disks that will not jam your stereo when the label peels.
Also prints great photos and you can purchase larger ink that comes with unit. The price elswhere is almost double Amazon price. Be sure to set for the correct disk as some direct print disks print to the center and some have a space around the hub that is not coated and will cause ink run. But the software has the setting for each type disk. Prints on the silver and white ones equally well.

This purchase went smoothly and with no problems in the process. I would buy again from this source.

1 out of 5 stars Ink Guzzler   January 30, 2008

I have never used a printer that uses so much ink! I don't print too often yet I change the cartridge every 2-3 weeks. HP has these tiny cartridges that go in this printer. I wish you could still buy a printer that uses the bigger cartridges that hold more ink. The only good thing about this printer is the built in duplexer...at least I'm saving paper! I'm already planning on replacing this printer...and I just bought it in late November!

I purchased this printer specifically for printing double-sided color documents from Microsoft Word. For the price, this is an EXCELLENT printer! It does indeed do duplex-printing and is rather fast. It is designed for small ink cartridges, so it runs out of ink relatively fast; however, you can purchase extra large ink cartridges for this printer, which makes it an exceptional buy. Supposedly, it has many other features as well (printing on CD, label making, etc.), but I do use those functions.

4 out of 5 stars Save paper, print on both sides! Excellent Mac support   December 31, 2007

This is the HP Photosmart D5360 (Amazon has it listed weirdly). The greatest feature on this printer is the built-in ability to duplex print on both sides of paper. I can't tell you how much wasted paper I've gone through because some website is just long enough to print two lines on a second sheet. With this printer, I never have this problem. Text printing is incredibly sharp and very black.

Even though the LCD screen is very small, it's incredibly handy compared to printers without any screen. The built-in memory card readers make direct printing very easy. On the Mac, the printer also acts as a card reader -- any card you insert will show up on your desktop! Cool! Mac printer drivers are terrific too. You can choose how much ink to use and drying time. Plus, it has a separate slot for photo paper and can also print on DVD! (it stores the caddy in a handy slot)

My only complaints are that it doesn't use individual ink cartridges and the duplexer easily adds 4 inches to the depth of the printer -- so it wouldn't be good for very shallow desks. Other than that, it's the least expensive printer I know of that prints on both sides. So save a few trees and duplex print!
