4 out of 5 stars To be recommended   July 8, 2008
Apple iPod classic 80 GB Black (6th Generation)
A real good product.
Needs an intuitive or young person to learn the functioning, unless you want to go through reading the respective manual to be found in the internet.
In general exceeded my expectations.

3 out of 5 stars Not ready for prime time...   July 7, 2008

I have a new 160gb classic Ipod with the latest firmware and the Ipod randomly pauses songs for 2 seconds and then resumes. MANY people have this problem and none (that I have been able to find) have gotten useful help or hope from Apple. See this thread for many examples of this problem and the lack of solutions: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6714594.

Otherwise it is an OK music player. Why just OK?: It works well as a music player for walking and docked or connected to a car stereo but is too heavy and bulky for running with. The sound is descent but not incredible. Navigation is more cumbersome than needed and lacks customization. The silver back scratches very easily and the face shows finger prints easily. (Protect it right away if you want to keep the new look).

Even with many shortcomings, I do enjoy having all my CDs ripped to Apple lossless for endless playback while walking, connected to my car stereo, or to my home stereo system. (For my home stereo I use the Wadia Itransport dock which bypasses the Ipod DACs and sends a bit perfect signal to my home stereo for truly beautiful CD quality sound).

All in all, 3 stars. Four if they ever fix the random song pauses.

5 out of 5 stars The Best MP3 Player   July 4, 2008

I was a little cautious about ordering the i Pod after reading some of the negative reviews. But, it is the largest hard drive on the market and I need the storage room. So, I placed the order and crossed my fingers.

It works great. I am syncing it to an HP Vista Home Premium notebook with 3 megs of memory. Syncing is fast and accurate. The movies and TV shows look great. Sound quality is outstanding and the battery life is beyond any other MP3 player I have used.

In short, an outstanding product that delivers flawlessly.

4 out of 5 stars My first IPod ...I am enjoying. Disapointed with the noncompatiblity   July 3, 2008

My first IPod ...I am enjoying. Disapointed with the noncompatiblity with other docks and the expense of adapters to use with video.
