mixed feelings June 22, 2008 It is lightweight, can be attached to belt or waist band. I prefer a stronger signal, with a louder warning alarm. I had bought a pocket size weather alert radio from Radio Shack a fair number of yrs ago which shames this Midland hands down. With the current technology I don't know why Midland didn't make a better product. My 2 cents; If you live in Tornado Alley, do not depend on this as your only weather alert radio, esp. for home. It's ok for the field -better than nothing (altho better to have something with lightning detection added if used for the field). In this case you get what you pay for. Just my opinion.
midland weather NOAA radio HH50 June 19, 2008 Just received this radio this morning, inserted 3 AAA batteries, and bingo. Picked up all stations in this area. this little radio by Midland is just SUPER. It does it all, very simple, and works like a charm. Recommend buy rechargeable batteries and charger for the long haul. Buy this radio, sound is A1, nothing complicated at all....BUY-BUY----
Small, but powerful June 14, 2008 This radio is much smaller than I thought it would be, but it works great. I live in an area where reception stinks, but this radio gets terrific reception. Now that thunderstorm season is here, this radio will come in handy. It's a basic weather radio, which is just what I wanted.
good product June 12, 2008 No frills weather radio. Does what it should-gives noaa weather.-if you don't need rainfall amounts in Hong Kong or temperature in Poland-get this radio. Plain, simple and easy to use.
Perfect! -- Tiny and does what it should. June 9, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've bought and returned 3 Midland weather radios because I couldn't get reception in my home, all I heard was static. This one works perfectly with excellent reception.
I'm just thrilled with the size. It's much smaller than I expected. It fits in the palm of my hand, so it can travel with me. I also like that it has no frills - just simple, automatic weather radio. It has three settings: On (weather radio), Off, and Alert (a noise will warn you if there's a warning in your area).
I noticed another review complaining about static. From what I can tell, that's a 'feature' of the NWS station. They just don't transmit at the sound quality of a commercial station. As I mentioned above, the other radios I tried were too full of static to hear at all. This radio has much better reception.
