2 out of 5 stars Not an HD projector / No Zoom?   April 27, 2008
5 out of 10 found this review helpful

I am the lead installer for a company that installs RealHomeTheaters, so hopefully my experience can be of some help.

This projector has a native 800x600 SVGA resolution, so because it is a 4:3 format you will only have 480 lines of resolution in 16:9 (widescreen) mode. Also is has no zoom so the largest screen you can hope for is a 73" diagonal in a 15' deep room.

Unless you are looking for a super inexpensive projector for the kids to play video games on. Save up and consider a Mitsubishi HC1500.

Hope this helps get your RealHomeTheaters off the ground!

1 out of 5 stars Another broken promise by Amazon. Time to file lawsuit against Amazon!   April 21, 2008

The project arrived in good condition. However the promised coupon for $100 rebate never did. When contacting Amazon I recieved no response at all. Not even the courtesy of a email telling me to go f... myself. This is the second time in a row I have a serious problem with Amazon. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General of Texas, FCC, and the U.S. Department of Commerce...they are not conforming to law. I will also file a lawsuit as Amazon is cheating people with bait and switch tactics. Want to contact me...very simple...email me at catsnorth@aol.com or call me at 210-639-3898. Will tell you how to file grievance with Amazon and stop them from cheating people. They are predatory and they need to have a taste of justice.

5 out of 5 stars A great intro level projector, makes a great home theater unit!   April 20, 2008

I have this unit installed in my basement as a home theater solution, and it works great! I have an upscaling DVD player (with VGA output--definitely a plus) and an Xbox 360, and both produce great results with this projector in 720p and 1080i modes. Sure, the lack of a zoom is a bit of a pain if you're going to be using it in a lot of settings and for a lot of different purposes, but if you're looking for something to mount permanently, this is just fine! (Take note--you need to determine if 4:3 mode or 16:9 mode is your default...permanently mounting this will make using both modes difficult. I say, set it up for 16:9, go high-def with your equipment, and abandon 4:3 forever!)

If you want more flexibility or a true 1080p picture look elsewhere, but for what it offers you can't beat this projector for the price!

4 out of 5 stars great value!   April 17, 2008
This projector is a great value for the money. I am very pleased with it as it fits my needs well. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the picture was and how easy it was to use.
