4 out of 5 stars dandy little device   January 10, 2007

if you've never used one of these gadgets, you'll never know what you have been missing. use it and you will be hooked. the nuvi 360 is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, and not much heavier. these days my theme song is easy, and this is an intuitive device with a few nice bells and whistles thrown in. i work for a medical corp and the other day had to visit a clinic that i hadn't been to for awhile. the nuvi seemed to be taking me an unusual way-which was closer too. the time estimates for arrival are amazingly close. i like the layout, and the design is clean. the bluetooth works well with my razr, and the screen will give you a nice clear slideshow, and there is audible books. i bought a magellan 800 last chrismas for my wife. she wanted that brand as it was in a cadillac that we rented from hertz. it's good, but this one is quicker, and much smaller, half the price, with more features. i thought of the 660 which is widescreen and has a couple more features. in the end, the shirtpocket size and 200$ diff won out. i gave this a 4 because of the speaker which is marginal. however i recommend this product, and would buy it again. as for amazon, they are professional and pleasant to work with. if the prices are close, and usually they are, buy it from amazon.

Can't believe I've lived this long without a GPS! The nuvi is GREAT!!

4 out of 5 stars Great when it's working, painful when not   January 10, 2007

Right after I bought this, I went on a trip to Los Angeles, CA. It was a great help, in that we could move from any place to any place without problems.

Bluetooth - Bluetooth is good. However, how important it is, is open for debate. With the rest of bluetooth equipment in my car, this thing is rendered useless. However, if you do not have a bluetooth headset for your phone, this is a decent substitute

Maps - The maps are pretty good. Unlike some people, I have not had any mishaps with the directions. They are quite comprehensive; whenever I have tried some little known roads, it has accurately helped me find the routes

Signal Strength - This is my biggest concern. It loses recption in downtown areas, areas with high-rises etc. I also cannot get reception indoors, unlike some other reviewers. However, the biggest concern is that if you switch off your GPS and move into a different geographical area before switching it back on (even 3-5 miles away), the unit goes nuts trying to acquire the Satellite signal. This is the reason I give it 4 instead of 5

5 out of 5 stars An absolute life saver. Never getting lost again!   January 10, 2007
I received this as a Christmas gift because I get lost just going around the corner and have a tendency to get very frustrated and stressed when this happens. The interface is very intuitive and there is absolutely no need for the manual as you will figure this out in minutes. The touch screen is smooth and fast. I used the Nuvi to travel from New York to Baltimore, and while I did look at the map, I really never had to as the voice prompts were loud, clear and accurate. I always received enough notice to make turns. Once in Baltimore, I was driving around as though I were a native and had zero stress. And if I missed a turn (and you will) it just recalculates in seconds. At night, I accessed the POI database to see what to do in Baltimore (clubs, bars, etc.) and it found a nice little pub near the Inner Harbor. Decided not to travel back to New York and it popped up many hotels and I called via Bluetooth to get a room, then it directed me straight there. Once at the hotel, I just clicked off the Nuvi from the suction mount and placed it in my pocket. Note: always remove the mount as well (easy to remove and put on) as thieves look for traces of any navigation system, especially something like this. Speaking of thieves, there is a function to allow you to lock the system so if it is ever lost or stolen no one can use it. Although you may be out of $$$, there may be some consolation knowing that the thief can't use it either. Even if you don't travel a lot out of your hometown, this product is nice to have to suggest different routes, avoid traffic ("Detour" option), show things to do that you may not have known existed in your area (sites, landmarks, attractions, etc.). It's not perfect, as I did notice that it does get confused when driving in Manhattan. Some of the roads and highways are closely connected and it may think you're driving on a particular road when you're really driving on a totally different one. However, it figures this out and adjust accordingly.

5 out of 5 stars Garmin Review   January 10, 2007
The product is absolutly great. It functions as advertises. If there is any downside it is the lack of "Points of Interest".

It is small enough to fit in my pocket and the battery lasts a full three hours, as advertised.

Highly recommended.
