Navigating the East Coast April 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We just completed a whirlwind visit to 12 east coast colleges, from Washington, DC to Boston. The Nuvi 760 was a lifesaver, helping us find our way to all 12 schools. We highly recommend this product
disappointed with some features April 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Don't get me wrong, the GPS portion works great. It acquires signals quickly in a matter of seconds and will always get me to my destination. As a GPS unit it does it's job well. the bluetooth and the FM transmitter portion of the unit lacks the quality I would expect. The bluetooth links up flawlessly to my cellphone and even utilizes the my address book from the phone but the quality of the voice from the bluetooth is terrible it breaks up and has a bad echo. I talked to several people and they said "What ever you are on it sucks"! I must note my phone is NOT on the approved list. But I have used a Plantronics 510 bluetooth with no problems. It seems Garmin does not know how to do bluetooth very well. The FM transmitter portion seems to very weak and it takes nothing to have a weak station bleed into the signal. I have used inexpensive MP3 FM tranmitters which work much better. If I would do it again I would have bought the 750 even though I love the black trim on the 760.
Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS Navigation System April 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
GREAT PRODUCT! I decided to Google some reviews on the GPS systems out there. There are SO many of them to choose from, with such diverse price ranges, that it can make your head spin. (This was my very first GPS). After spending about 1 week reading various reviews, I decided on the Garmin Nuvi 760. I ordered from Amazon.com and I received my Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS Navigation System right away. I've now had it about about 3 weeks and I have been using it from day one! Right out of the box! I followed the quick setup included and within 5 minutes I was up and running. I love the features. Several places I reviewed stated that one of the few cons on this model is that the screen is not as touch sensitive as other brands and other models, but I have been VERY happy. It seems very sensitive to my finger touches. The ONLY con I have found is that Garmin did not include a full instruction manuel, but I have downloaded the PDF files for this unit from their website. As a newbie to GPS systems, I can tell you I LOVE this unit, it does everything I could ask for. It is easy to use, easy put music and photos on, works "on the fly" and is very accurate. I can't wait to take a trip out of state and put it to a full test. I highly recommend this brand and this model!!!!
Extremely Long Satellite Connect Times April 6, 2008 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
Any good features of the Garmin nuvi 760, of which there are many, are overshadowed by the fact that it has taken between 10 and 15 minutes to connect to the required satellites on a regular basis. I had read other reviews stating that this particular Garmin has that problem but I failed to heed them. Now I'm kicking myself. I know that Garmin nuvi's work in my area (Massachusetts), because several months before I bought the 760 I had bought my son the 660 and it always connected immediately to the satellites. I thought the 760 would work at least as good as the 660 but these long connect times make it a failure in my book. I wouldn't buy this one again.
The 760 April 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The GPS part of this unit works great. Traffic and Bluetooth leave a lot to be desired. Bluetooth compitability is horrible even if your phone is on the approved list. Support is great but some things just can't be fixed.
