An Improved Product July 25, 2008 This product is substantially improved over the previous WaterPik I owned. It is quieter, the water container has a lid with accessories inside, and the water tubing spirals into a slot. However it would be a superior product if the container-forming lid snapped shut. It tends to drop open when lifted. And the spiral water tubing should be made easily replaceable.
Waterpik Review July 23, 2008 The waterpik performs as advertised, and does a much better job of removing food particles from between my gums than floss...with a lot less hassle. Particularly from the hard to reach places between the rear molars.
Good Item July 20, 2008 Waterpik's Ultra Dental Water Jet is a quality product with several nice features. The water container is a bit small but I suspect that's for a reason. This model is an improvement over my last Waterpik. I'd buy another one!
Great product July 20, 2008 My dental hygienist was very surprised with the great result after just two weeks of me using it.
Effective, but Durability is Questionable July 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This Waterpik Ultra Water Jet replaces a WJ7B Conair Interplak Water Jet.
The Conair lasted two years, I replaced it with the same model, and the new one lasted only a week. I liked the old Conair (that's why I re-ordered it) because it had a low price, a very strong pulse, extra jets (my spouse used it also and they can break), and a reasonably small footprint. Although the new one was the same model number, it failed in one week for the same reason that the old one did after two years -- the pump tried to push water but couldn't, at all. Fortunately, Amazon refunded my money and I ordered the Waterpik Ultra.
The Waterpik Ultra has about the same footprint as the Conair. I didn't like that the price was almost double of the Conair, it came with only two jets, and the pulse wasn't as strong as the Conair. Nevertheless, I liked it because it works despite the lower pressure and it is more quiet (the Conair vibrated and rattled a lot on the bathrooom vanity).
Unfortunately, the first Waterpik Ultra I ordered lasted less than a week. Like the new Conair, it made a loud humming noise but couldn't pump any water. Fortunately, Amazon replaced it without any fuss (I am very impressed with Amazon's refund/replacement policy that includes free return shipping using their label). The replacement arrived more quickly than Amazon's original shipment, which I think is nice because I was stuck without a Waterpik while I waited for the new one. The replacement has worked a few weeks as of this review. I hope this one lasts a few years. If not for the first Waterpick that I had to replace, I would have given this product 4-1/2 stars.
By the way, I also recently purchased from Amazon a Panasonic EW1270AC portable water irrigator for traveling. (I also bought one about a year ago for my daughter for use at college.) Although the Panasonic is not as effective as the Waterpik for regular use, which I would not expect of a battery-operated product, it is pretty good for the intended purpose.
