1 out of 5 stars It used to work   February 4, 2007

I have used this product for several years. I found the old product in the black container to be working very well. When the company changed its packaging, they also must have changed the formula, because ever since I started using the product from the white container, it does not work at all. It spreads easier, but so what? I find it to be useless, ineffective, and a waste of money.

1 out of 5 stars not a good product   October 21, 2006

According to most of the reviews this is a great product. I followed all the intructions, no deodorant before use, etc... It didn't work at all.
I think, it actually gave me more bad odor. Like eeeew odor.
There is a better product that this one.
So, sorry.

5 out of 5 stars tip for hairy underarm users.   August 28, 2006

I have been using this for many years now and will use nothing else. One review here said they only got 1 day out of it. I cannot imagine how. I'm a hairy guy so I've found a few tricks to making it last longer. Trim the under arm hair as short as you are willing to tolerate. I buzz mine very short. Bacteria lives in the hair and on the skin. That is why it is so malodorous (fancy for stinky Jim). The fewer surfaces for the bacteria to live on, the easier this product will work. The more hair the harder it is for lavilin to be distributed evenly. I found that as the hair grows, so does the odor. I have also found that activity and diet play a roll in how long it lasts. I can get as much as 14 days out of it but in summer I've gotten as few as 4 days.

5 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny!!!   August 28, 2006

I have been using this product for nearly three years now. My [...] son uses it as well. I have found that the length of time between applications seems to be dependant on physical activity and eating healthfully (or not). I also have found that increased water consumption helps increase the length of time between applications. I averge 5 - 10 days between applications. My son gets 4 - 7 days out of it but he also indulges in foods that are less healthy :-)

I highly recommend this product. It is a healthier alternative to the deoderants with aluminum in them (many deoderants have aluminum as an ingredient). I sincerly hope that this company and product out live me because I would never want to use anything else! I am glad to find that Amazon.com is offering this product at such a great price!

5 out of 5 stars Works for days   July 14, 2006

At first, I was apprehensive about following the directions for uisng Lavilin.

I probably wouldn't have, except I had cousins who had been using it. They kept describing Lavilin as "nicer" than other deodorants. They didn't smell bad, and he worked out a lot at the time. They explained that you used it at night and washed it in the morning. The worker in the shop where I first bought it explained the procedure in more detail. Still, no one had warned me about the three day waiting period. Well, that's all history now.

I've been using Lavilin for more than 15 years, and I wouldn't go back to daily deodorant. It is much more convenient, and as someone else mentioned, it works by killing bacteria that cause odors, not by covering up odors.

By the way, Lavilin seems to work longer the longer you use it.
