 Looks good on paper, but doesn't work too well in the arms June 10, 2008
I know many have had good experiences with Mitchum, but I want to also let you know that there is a large group of people who have had very bad ones. Be wary that this stuff does contain the highest level of active ingredient allowable -- this can mean bad things if your skin has a bad reaction to it.
Yes, it'll close up your pores... nothing's getting out of there. If your sole aim is to stop sweating in the arms, then this is the best you can probably get.
However, people like me have negative reactions to it. It basically causes this really painful rash and makes the arms quite sore. I don't normally write reviews, but I figured this would be the best way to let others know that this product needs to be used with a bit of caution.
Many others have experienced these strange rashes as well. It's likely the result of the pores being clogged and/or an allergic reaction of some sort. Be wary when trying this stuff, and if your arms begin to get sore or if rashes appear, stop using it immediately.

This stuff is amazing. It works like no other. You can put it on in the morning and you are safe to raise your arms all day....even during the summer. This is the "Smart Solid", and this means that unlike the gel you can put it on and continue to dress without waiting for it to dry, so you wont have clothes stuck to your armpits. I used to use the gel, because I thought it was the only one that worked, but this is so much better, as with the gel you have to stand around with your arms in the air for 10 min. waiting for it to dry. And the Gel stained my clothes sort of yellow under the arms (And I can't get this out, no matter what I do). This one does not do this. Using the "Smart Solid" also means there will be no white powder residue on your dark clothes. And the fact the it has no scent means it won't interfere with your perfume or cologne (or cause any allergy problems).
The only negative about this deodorant is that it can be a bit brittle. I have found that sometimes the stick can crack and pieces will fall off. But with all of it's pluses, and the fact that you are saving $$ through Amazon, I am willing to put up with it.
 Disappointed April 20, 2008
After reading some of the reviews on here for the mitchum products, I broken down and figured why not let's head down to target and pickup a stick. I'll preface this entire review by saying I sweat like mad due to varying issues anxiety, depression, and just stress period.
Still, it didn't seem to work that well at all. I'd never thought of mitchum as a leader in antiperspirants and now that opinion is unchanged.
Skip this unless you sweat very very moderately.
Money to throw away April 10, 2008
As a user of over 30 years,I am all for bringing back the old solid even if it has a white residue. The Smart Solid makes my skin break out and doesn't seem to be quite as effective.
A major gripe is the fact that the product will break and I have to throw chunks of it away!! I am already throwing money away on gasoline, I don't appreciate having to waste money on my deodorant.
Not as expected April 2, 2008
I have been using Mitchum products for years, but I don't care for this one. This is the first deodorant that has broken me out. For the past two days I've had a burning red rash under my arms. In order to sleep comfortably last night I had to coat my pits with a heavy, medicated cream. This morning my armpits were still red and sore. I also don't like the consistency of this product. It's kinda wet for a solid and leaves a film on my skin. I hate to say this, but there is nothing positive I can say about this deodorant. I'd rather have white marks all over my shirts than to endure the pain this deodorant caused me. In the trash it goes!
