 It hurts, but it's worth it! September 21, 2008
I was quite skeptical to try this. My mom had an epilady long long ago, and I remember trying it and it HURT! Well, this thing hurts too, but it's SOOOO worth the end product of not having to shave every other day! I worked at my legs in sections, and it took a few days to get most of the hair gone. But NOW!!! I run the epilator over my legs every few days or when I notice a stray growing. NO more shaving, unless of course I want silky smooth legs, then I still have to shave. Haven't gotten the courage up to do my underarms or bikini area though. The only thing I can relate the discomfort to is getting a tattoo. It's that annoying uncomfortable feeling, but once most of the hair is gone, it's not bad at all.

This baby ROCKS!
I never used an epilator before and it hurt like a motha, but I'm a gay guy and hair on my lower back upper arm and upper back and neck bothered me. I used Veet to take care of it before but lately I got chemical burns from it. So, I swung for this little machine because of the reviews here.
It works like a charm. I'll put up with the pain until I get used to it because I love the results.
easy to use epilator September 20, 2008
I purchased the Braun Silk-epil a couple of weeks ago. The first time I used it was very painful, but you get used to it and after a couple of times it get less painful.
The result is ok. Some of the hair is only cut off instead of removed by the root. I have to use the silk-epil at least once a week to have smooth legs. I tried but can't use the epilator other than for my legs.
The usage is super easy and it is a high quality product.

Let me preface by saying that I have been waxing for over 10 years, so I find that there is no pain associated with this product on my legs. It does sting a little if used in more intimate areas, but that too, seems to lessen over time. It is certainly a tremendous improvement over the first epilady from 15 years ago, which caused ingrowns and never really worked properly.
In using this, one gets maximum results by keeping the skin taut. It is essential to exfoliate daily to prevent ingrowns. One one's legs, this works as well as waxing, and it is certainly MUCH easier to take to Europe for 2 months than a tub of hot wax.
The biggest failure of this item is it's size, which requires a relatively flat area of body of roughly 2 inches across. The epilady slides effortlessly over the legs, but there is not 2 inches of flat body on one's underarms or bikini area! Consequently, there is chafting and it is very difficult to remove all the hair.
Please manufacturers, make a smaller head attachment for the bikini and underarm areas!
 BEWARE - Ingrown hairs!!!!! September 19, 2008
This epilator removes hair very well and the pain is not horrible like some have stated. It actually feels kinda cool! The problem starts a week or so after hair removal. INGROWN HAIRS like crazy. I exfoliated every day and still had major ingrown hair trouble! My legs look horrible now. Wasted $. Am going back to shaving. Too bad, because this would have been really convenient.
