5 out of 5 stars I love my hair!   November 6, 2006

This flatiron works wonders on my naturally wavy/frizzy hair. I haven't had any circuit problems yet, but only use it about once a week. The straightness really depends on the amount of hair used in each section. With small sections, you get really straight hair, but it seems to lose a lot of volume. I highly recommend this product.

4 out of 5 stars Internet Buyer Beware!   October 4, 2006

After reading numerous online raves about the CHI Flat Iron I ordered a CHI Turbo Flat Iron. I have no complaints with the product as of yet, I've only had it a few days.

***BUT*** the few complaints I read online dealt with customer service from Farouk the manufacturer of CHI products and warranty problems. Before buying the product, I went to the Farouk website and noted that they had a 1-year warranty, no problem so I thought. I went back to the site today with a nagging thought, why would people who had spent so much money on a hair iron have problems with customer service? Upon reading the fine print I found out. The following was copied and pasted from the Farouk website:

ATTENTION INTERNET SHOPPERS: Any product manufactured by Farouk Systems, Inc. will lose its warranty if purchased from an internet distributor of any sort. Farouk Systems can not guarantee the quality of the products that are sold over the internet. Besides that, It is against company policy for internet distributors to sell our products. Any CHI appliance or Top Blade products are only under warranty if purchased from a Professional Salon.

BOTTOM LINE: If this product is ordered online by comparison shopping you can potentially save a lot of money but you will NOT have a manufacturer's warranty. The manufacturer's warranty is only valid if you buy through a professional salon.

5 out of 5 stars Very surprised..   August 3, 2006

I decided to splurg and buy a "nice" flat iron. After using it, I definately understand why my stylist uses Chi irons as well. It's night and day from cheap ceramic irons that would fry my hair to oblivion. The chi curls my hair in a silky kind of way (hard to explain)...it makes my entire style bouncy and shiny and makes me feel like a runway model (even if I don't look like one). I haven't had a bad hair day since investing in this. Would recommend to anyone.

1 out of 5 stars Faulty product   July 18, 2006

I bought this product off of Amazon. It worked fine until it broke two months later (I only used it about 10 times). I've tried everything, but the iron no longer heats up. Given the amount of money I spent on the product, I'm shocked that it turned out to be a lemon.

2 out of 5 stars Meh...   May 25, 2006

The CHI is an ok straightener. I live in Houston, Texas/New Orleans, Louisiana so I know what curly hair + humidity does, and the CHI does not solve the problem. If your hair is quite curly and you live in a humid area, I would suggest not buying it and going for the curly haired look, because chances are you won't find a straightener that will straighten your hair and keep it straight. When I use it anytime between March and October my hair starts to curl or frizz out bad after a hour or two of using it. Virtually pointless unless it's winter for me.
