 Money Well Spent July 8, 2008
I bought this radio after hearing the story of a family in Fredericksburg, VA who was saved by one during a recent tornado. The radio went off and the mother had just enough time to get her kids in the basement before the 2nd floor was ripped off the house. The radio is pretty solid and has good reception. One thing worth making mention of is that unit is probably confusing for non-techie folks to setup. The instruction manuals are a bit difficult to understand unless you tech manuals on a regular basis. I would recommend that you set the unit up for severe weather alerts in your county only. If you dont, you will get a lot of alerts and you will begin to either hate the unit and or ignore it. I feel better sleeping knowing this radio is on my nightstand. Its insurance I hope never to have to use.
 Clunky to configure July 8, 2008
As mentioned previously, navigating the menus to configure this thing is time consuming. And it beeps at you every time you click a button. And it's clunky to use as an alarm clock.
My biggest gripe: Of the dozens of preset weather codes, the only one that seemed to be missing was the Tornado Warning code. Tornado warnings were the only reason I bought this thing. So I had to manually enter the code for tornado warnings. Hope I entered it correctly. Guess I'll find out one way or another.
At least it had the codes already entered for Iceberg Warning, Dust Storm, Tsunami . . .

I bought this weather radio for my husband for Father's Day because we live in a small town that does not have tornado sirens and we wanted some notification of bad weather, especially while we are sleeping since we now have a child! This radio has been great! It woke us up the other morning for a flood warning; we were getting some strong rain and winds and was glad we could be prepared. We've even noticed that we get notification from the radio before they even announce it on tv. I would highly recommend this product!!

This is a wonderful product! Easy to select what counties you want alerts for. A light comes on if there is an alert in progress and shows if it is a warning or watch, etc. You can unplug it from the back of unit to take with you and still have radio to keep up on what's going on. Had it for 1 month and already used this feature. Love it!!

It has been over a month since I began using this weather radio. I had an old midland radio, which still works, but wanted the different features this has. I am not disappointed at all. I feel a lot safer when sleeping knowing this is ready to alert me incase the weather gets really bad. I really like the text scrolling across the screen also. I looked everywhere and couldn't find a better deal on the price then this. If you are debating on getting this, I would say, don't hesitate any longer! This wasn't in stores yet, only on the internet.
