| Customer Reviews:
I love it! May 12, 2008 Very easy to use. A little bulky but I seem to manage to wear it everyday inconspicuously.
Simply the best. May 12, 2008 After breaking a few pedometers when they fell off and having pedometers count steps when I was sitting in a vehicle, I had made up my mind that I was purchasing my LAST pedometer. I was prepared to pay whatever it took to get both accuracy and longevity. After reading the reviews, and seeing the cost of this pedometer, ordering it, and having worn it for a month, I am convinced that this is the best choice out there. The low profile allows you to wear this under a shirt with very little bulk, the safety strap/clip allow you to protect the unit from falling, and the easy key structure allows you to use the funcations without reading the manual. Great product!
Pretty Amazing Little Gadget May 11, 2008 We've had a pedometer before, but it was a cheap mechanical one that did not measure distance correctly. Somehow, we came to believe that a pedometer could not work as advertised. I gave it another shot, though, thinking that a 'computerized' pedometer might be better. It is!
I'm so pleased with this unit. I've tested it quite a few times by walking from one city block to the next--exactly one mile, I know for certain; sure enough, the readout states the correct distance. This gives me confidence to vary the places I walk (I do like variety), knowing that the distance measurement is correct. Highly recommended for fitness walkers.
Worked for a while... May 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this product a litte over a month ago. After it got here, I carefully measured my 10 step walking distance as they instruct you to do. Once I programmed my pedometer to my standards, I began using it. It worked great when I first got it. I would walk 10 steps and it would count 10 (sometimes 11 or so) steps. Overall, it was a good product for a while.
Throughout the first week I would test it to see if it was still accurate. To my delight, it did remained accurate. I recommened it to some family and then they purchaced some. It wasn't until I helped one of them set up theirs that I realized how much of a piece of junk this thing is (at least ours). I carefully helped one of my family members measure their stride and then set up the pedometer. When she tried it out, it was very innacurate. We spent more time trying to accuartely measure the correct walking pace. Afterwards we tried again. Still, it was innaccurate. I then was curious and checked mine to see if it was working; it was not. If I were to walk 10 steps, it would count 17. If I were to walk 5-6 steps, it would usually count 0 steps and sometims maybe 12-13. The same was happening with my family members. The product would either count too much, or not count at all.
I called the Omron number and asked what we should do. She recommened we reset the pedometer and reprogram it. We did. Still, the thing was messing up. Then we remeasured our walking pace and repgrogrammed it again. Still, nothing. Overall we spent about 2 hours trying to get the things to work. I don't know if our products were defects or if the product itself just doesn't work. However, I do NOT RECOMMEND this product based on my personal experience.
Final thought: This product does not work. Some may work; others may not. If you want to take a gamble, go ahead and buy it. If you want to save yourself the effort, look elsewhere.
Worth Every Penny! May 9, 2008 This is the best thing that could happen to couch potatoes, people that don't have time to exercise, and dog walkers! The OMRON HJ-112 pedometer does everything exceedingly well and is convenient as the dickens to use. The tether keeps things from getting lost (like when picking up "things" while walking the dog) and prevents the pedometer from dropping on the ground and getting scratched, stepped on, or worse. The unit keeps track of previous days' results and automatically resets at midnight. Easy to set up and use--which makes it the best thing to get you out walking. The aerobic step counter also gives you the total minutes walked at aerobic speed and is the best encouragement to keep you in a healthy walking program.
