Great Value July 10, 2008 The lack of IS and auto-focus is going to turn off a lot of people, but I paid extra for a DSLR so I could manually focus so the bare bones nature of this lens is a positive for me. If you have plenty of light, a steady hand, and a little patience then this is a fantastic buy. For $80 shipped to my door it fills a gaping hole in my lens collection without costing a lot of cash.
Justshootin June 15, 2008 Great lens. Used it for candid photo's with friends at our chess match a lot. Will be also using it at a wedding in Kula, Maui in two weeks! Can't wait. Aloha!
Great Lens For The price May 30, 2008 I came across this Sigma lens on Amazon - and I thought the price was a typo. I could hardly believe it was less than $80! Let me tell you at that price this is a great lens shipped amazingly quickly by 47th Street Photo. It's not a US warranty version, but that's ok for this price. Superb value for money.
Great price May 8, 2008 We got a great price on this lens. The only thing that it doesn't do is auto focus which we thought it did when we purchased the lens. I would recommend this lens!
Just for macro, not tele. December 9, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The price was low, so I thought I try it. The macro option is nice, but tele is very blurred. Not useful for quality photos. Also I don't like the enormous long nose. You do need it extended for macro. Also the button for going to macro is clumsy and to small to operate easily. Tried it on my D40, D40x and D300; all the same bad result at 300mm. Would not have bought it if I knew the quality.
