| Customer Reviews:
Clean and well made Palm Pilot of 2008 July 24, 2008 I used a Handspring Visor 8Mb cheapie for years and loved it. This little beauty is 4 times larger with 32MB of memory. Beautiful color screen. Operates just like like old Visor. Perfect. Recharging batteries is easy, just plug it in. I synced my old memos and contacts and I'm off to the races without skipping a beat. It's very light as well. Much lighter than my old Visor in my shirt pocket. Don't try to use the Documents ToGo software because with only 32MB of memory, just a few pictures will fill up all your memory. Damn. I wish I could add 4GB of SD flash memory to it but I cannot. 32MB vs 4,000 MB remember? Oh well, I knew it before I bought it. I works great for my Contacts and memos which hold everything I know or ever have known. My son said "that's sad, Daddy." I said "Why?" He replied "Because it's only 32Meg" Bang, he got me. Love my Z22. Get one. Only $99.
Incompatible July 22, 2008 Nice little unit with all the capabilities I required but never could get it to sync properly with Windows XP Professional and Outlook 2007. Palm's phone support was pitiful and despite applying every download available on Palm's support pages, the unit would never sync. So, I returned it. The issue probably starts with Microsoft who wants to sell their own mobile OS, but Palm needs to overcome that hurdle. Consumers don't have the time, patience or desire to fight the compatibility curve.
Perfect eReader device even if you have low vision. July 21, 2008 I bought this palm Z22 mainly for reading .pdb format ebooks. It is very light weight and has 4 different settings for font size and/or bold, not bold. I use reverse video and the eReader program provides that as "Inverse" screen. Using the "midnight" color theme for the device makes the whole device reverse video, accept for some of the individual programs.
I can even play solitare with visual ease. I do not like the other programs, Calendar, only because using the virtual keyboard is tedious. But for the reason I got this device it is absolutely perfect for my needs.
You can even program several of the buttons to do other tasks, if you choose.
If you need internet access, you should buy the next level up in a hand held, or a smart phone.
Palm Z22 Handheld July 21, 2008 The Palm is a lifesaver for me. I can keep all my information at my fingertips and have them available at all times. I use mine with Microsoft Outlook and the ability to transfer files from the computer to the Palm is great.
Exactly what I wanted July 21, 2008 I thought I could live without an organizer when my old Clie finally gave up 6 months ago but I was wrong. I change my cell phone often so wanted a stand alone organizer and this one is exactly what I needed. The interface is easy to use and the color screen is big enough. It's about the size of a deck of cards to fits easily in my purse.
The only problem I had was with setting it up on my PC. The included PC software installed easily. I entered some addresses into the PC and then tried to synch with the Palm. It SEEMED happy and said it was synched but when I checked the Palm none of the info had been transferred. I had to do some digging but found that the included software doesn't work with VISTA. I downloaded an update from Palm's site and now everything works. I would recommend the Z22 to someone who wants a nice organizer without the more expensive bells and whistles.
