4 out of 5 stars Nifty little box with LOTS of technology within   April 1, 2007

I bought this model even though it's more expensive than say the 330 because of its size. Prices should drop over time, but I wanted it NOW.
Instead of a small tv tube shape, it's a flat screen model and even within the handy leather case that comes with it, it fits nicely into my shirt pocket. You can use it for walk arounds!

I'm finding new features almost daily as I get used to this thing. For one, at dusk, the screen goes to a "night" mode. Cool. The choice of voices is nice; I'm currently using the sexy female Australian one.

I've never listened to books on tape, but the Audible sample chapter of about 5 minutes lured me right into the story. The unit has an audio output so if you have an FM modulator or other connection into your car stereo, you can put it on the big speakers. With an MP3 Player on board and accepting SD cards, it's a cool player too.

Finding gas stations, or nearby Greek resturants is pretty neat too.

Downsides? Minor, really. Booting up and gaining satellite signals does take maybe two minutes. The keyboard is abc rather than asdfg. Big deal. The European map add-ons which is what I bought this thing for (a trip to Europe is coming up) are kind of expensive. Sometimes the SD add on maps are available on E-bay a bit less than list price. Sometimes it seems to take me an unfamiliar way to my destination. This might have to do with some of the settings such as "maximum use of highways" or "most direct route." In California, you can't mount this on the windshield by law. The included disk (sold for $18 for two if you need more -- kinda expensive) supports the suction cup on the dash nicely and I haven't tried the temporary disks that I bought (maybe for other models?) yet on my other cars. Other than that, this is a good unit. But I haven't compared the map quality with those of some "off brand" units that are now appear on the market; you could get one of those for maybe one half or less the price.

I wanted an inexpensive GPS navigation device, so I ordered the Nuvi 350 mainly for the price. But I am totally impressed with it. It is incredibly easy to use (you're not supposed to put in addresses while driving, but it is so simple that I do it all the time), and its directions are almost perfect. Now I often use it to give me verbal directions to places I have been driving to for years, and it is teaching me shorter routes than my own. I especially like the female Australian voice option.

4 out of 5 stars My new Boyfriend, I don't leave home without him   April 1, 2007

I love my Garmin Nuvi. I refer to it as my new boyfriend, although I have a husband of 21 years, he does not give good directions. It is easy to use for technologically challenged people like myself, easy to see and easy to hear. The setting are easy to use touch screen. The only down side I have found is the battery. I would like it to last a bit longer. I just make sure I have the car charger and the plug with me at all times. Even better reason for sucess, my boss ordered a different brand and model GPS from a different company right after I bought mine. I told him to get this one but he is the boss. Well, suddenly he found that the bid he won on the item was suddenly on back order and they were not able to tell him when it would be avaialable. He cancelled his order and placed a new order for the NUVI, just as I had recommended. I guess the boss is not ALWAYS right.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to use...   March 31, 2007

I found the unit very intuitive in its use. I have used it mostly in my vehicles, but have also walked aroung Phlly with it. In all cases, it was accurate. Only had one instance where it did not have the exact location of a house address...turns out, this particular address has issues with all GPS such asthe one in Hertz cars. All around this s a great unit and I will be adding the Traffice FM receiver shortly.

Helpful in finding restaurants and hotels. Appropriately sensitive touch screen. I was initially concerned about the screen being a little small...but it is fine. Also, the complaints about the suction windshield mount are unfounded with me. If you clean the windshield as suggested in the instructions, it will hold fine. It did purchase a dash mount for another hehicle, and that has held fine also.

Good traveling.....

Very sleek, I carry it out of the car many a times. Recalculating feature is very fast and accurate. Have owned it for about a month now and so far have never got lost going by its navigation. Would definitely recommnend!
