Awesome alarm at a great price April 23, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this to replace an old one. It is super easy to set up and functions perfectly. I would say this is a great buy and is reasonably priced for what you are getting.
Things I love about it: 1. Giant numeric readout in relaxing blue with a dimmer switch. 2. Gradual alarm that gets slowly louder so it gently wakes you instead of jolting you awake. 3. Dual alarms that can BOTH be either radio or buzzer. 4. Nice radio that has a dial tuning knob, but digital readout so you know when you have locked in the station. 5. Radio has great reception even tuning in some of the hardest stations. 6. Readout can be seen from all angles not just straight on. 7. Snooze function can be set from as few minutes as you like up to 30 minutes. 8. Large easy to find snooze button right in the center at the top of the unit. 9. Auxiliary jack for plugging in your MP3 player. Although please note that they do not supply the cord for this you must buy it yourself. 10. Battery back-up with batteries included and already installed! 11. There are also nap and sleep functions although I do not use these. 12. Time sets itself to the atomic clock you simply select your time zone and turn daylight savings on or off. We have not noticed it losing or gaining time.
The only con I see is the readout is a bit bright. There is a dimmer switch which we found dims it enough to keep it from annoying us, yet allows us to still see it clearly. It did not light up our whole room in blue as some other reviewers have stated. We prefer the blue color as red is so creepy and green is overdone.
Absolutely love it! April 18, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received this clock radio and I love it! So easy to set up and the blue LED display is so soothing to the eyes. The only fault I have found with it is that it runs 2 minutes fast. But I can live with that, LOL. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a clock radio.
Works, but... March 31, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this alarm clock when I moved to a new city. Needless to say, it does its work, has an unpleasant, loud beep for an alarm (which makes it a good alarm), and I like the fact that I don't need to enter the time if I unplug it. The numbers are nicely sized, which is good if you need to decipher what time it is when you are still half asleep from across the room.
I give it a just ok, because even if I still like it, I wouldn't buy one again because the topmost horizontal line in the numbers stopped working, which is only a problem when I have to determine whether the last digit at the current time is either a 1 or 7...
Great Product March 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great alarm clock. The blue numbers add a nice relaxing glow, and it's not too bright for me. The escalating alarm was the selling point for me. I usually turn off an alarm the second it goes off without noticing it. Now that the alarm isn't horribly disturbing, I can actually wake up and realize that the alarm is going off and to consciously hit snooze or off. the other features are really nice ... two alarms, nap feature, radio. Great.
"Easy" dual alarm with large display March 29, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Daylight savings!!! The date change for daylight savings made my old "smart" alarm clock self-adjust on the wrong dates. I finally broke down and bought a new alarm clock to avoid the headache of re-setting my clock 4 times annually.
Buying a new alarm clock is about as exciting and fun as buying toothpaste, but this clock has many helpful features that make it highly recommended.
Display: The massive display is great as this is the first alarm clock that I could read in the middle of the night without requiring glasses. One concern I had was that the large display would be too bright for going to sleep. I found that the auto brightness feature along with the blue hue of the display resolved this issue. It actually lights the room less than my previous clock.
Dual-alarm: a marriage-saving feature when you both have to be up in the morning, but not at the same time. Easy to set, easy to turn off one or the other alarms independantly, and each alarm can be set to wake you to radio or to alarm.
Programmable snooze: Great feature that lets you set the snooze time anywhere from 1 minute to 30 minutes. My old alarm was stuck at 9 minutes. For me, a 9-minute snooze is worse than none at all. A 14 minute snooze, now THAT's heaven ;).
Ease-of-use: Not listed on the product description, but I found this clock to be very straight-forward and easy to use. Having lots of features is nice, but worthless if the clock doesn't perform in it's most basic function - waking you up at the right time. My old alarm clock had multiple ways you could end up oversleeping due to the alarm not being properly set up the previous night. I haven't had any alarm "misfires" since we started using this one roughly 7 months ago. Any daylight savings changes are a snap - just slide the DSL/Standard Time switch on the back of the clock.
