Does NOT hold charge - Junk - Issues with properly fitting it in the camera August 8, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Hi all,
Got this for my Canon 950 12MP camera.
In a word, its Junk! Stay away from this. Read below for a detailed explanation.
After reading several reviews, chose this one based upon the price and the milliamp rating.
As they say, you get what you pay for.
The main issue is that the charge doesn't hold up at all - even after a full 10 hour charge.
Second issue is that my camera kept complaining to "replace battery" with in a few minutes of using this "fully charged" one.
I had to open the battery cover, take it out and then put it back in and close the cover to make the message go away.
In detail: Most of my shots are set to Auto flash mode with red eye reduction.
I used it in Disney/Universal/SeaWorld in Florida and you can image that I did not need to use the flash for day time shots - except when in indoors or in shows where the photos were permitted. Also, I did refrain from taking pictures of fireworks or night time stuff that I know would not come out properly. Yes, there are camera settings that will allow you to take those shots, but I just didnt bother. In all, I might have taken about 400/450 shots on our 7 day trip to FL.
In comparing with the original one that came with the camera, this one is way way behind.
The original one lasted for almost 2 or more days, while this one barely made it half a day.
My strong suggestion is that if you are going to be using your camera heavily, do pay more and get the real Canon one - which will last. OR buy more than one of these and get extra chargers too - because you are going to need them.
If I were to estimate, this battery did not even last for about 20-30 pictures (based upon the number of total pictures taken and other factors). This is a huge drawback and a big one too.
I did call Amazon for a refund/return. They have emailed me the RMA - will be mailing it out soon. And keep looking for other ones to replace this.
Later.
Works better than the original August 5, 2008 I am so happy with this. It actually lasts longer than the canon battery that came with my camera.
For this price it's Ok. August 5, 2008 This battery it's ok while you charge the original, can help you but really the performance is poor.
If you can spend more money, I recomend to buy the original.
doesn't work anymore July 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got this battery for less than 3 month. Charge for no more than 10 times. Now it doesn't charge anymore. I can charge another battery with the charger, which proof the charger is ok. Very disappointed.
Great replacement battery July 14, 2008 This is a great replacement battery for the canon sd870. Works just like the original.
This is the second time we have used Lenmar as a second battery for our canon camera's (our old one was a sd550) and that model of battery worked great also.
We recommend them to all of our friends who use the Canon SD series.
