5 out of 5 stars My Best Sansa Yet   May 3, 2008
This MP3 player is very advanced over my older 4 gig e260's. Can work with the player and the 4 gig expansion card at the same time using windows media player. Adding video and photos is easy using the Sansa media converter. The speed on starting up seems quicker too. Being able to delete songs without being connected to the computer is convenient. I will keep buying Sansa's, seems like they give you more for the money.

5 out of 5 stars impressed   May 1, 2008
I had to replaced my mp3 player and couldn't resist the 8 GB harddrive space for the price. The design is quite nice and very durable. My only complaint is the location of the buttons. It's harder than it should be to press the buttons because of the location of the selector wheel. I guess If you have finger nails you won't have any issues.
The operating features are very easy to use and understand. The quality of music is great. I would invest in a better pair of earphones though but that's normal on all new mp3 or ipods.
Most my fiends have ipods and I compared my new sansa with theirs and the only differences I found are the accessories. Other than that, I got a much better and larger unit for less than a hundred dollars. My friends spent over 200 dollars for the same storage.
My overall impression is a five star rating.

2 out of 5 stars So far... not so good.   April 29, 2008
So far... not so good. Bought 4g for my wife and it worked very well. Bought 8g for myself to replace a 4g m-series I had and suffice to say, I've had troubles. First It appears from the packaging that I got a refurbished model. An instruction booklet that appeared to be photocopied and no advanced instruction disc as my wife had in hers.I don't recall reading anything in fine print that said this was refurbished. Don't know if this is an Amazon problem or Sansa problem. Secondly and most importantly, After I initially added my playlists, now when I add a new one...I loose 2 or 3, the Go list pops up in the place of the missing playlist...very frustrating.

3 out of 5 stars Decent Sound, Bad Software   April 28, 2008

I've had this product for a couple of weeks now. I ordered it new from Amazon but it came opened and with no driver CD. The software can be found on the Sansa website though. I contacted Amazon when I bought it that it had been opened but still have not heard back from them.
The player itself is fairly good. I have however noticed several problems/shortcomings with the software.
- The player will encounter an error and then skip the rest of the song even though if I scan past the point the error occurs I can continue to play the rest of the song.
- For certain songs the rate it is played is extremely slow even though when played on the PC the song plays normally.
- There is no way to view the entire song list or even all songs under an artist if there are multiple albums unless you choose play all and then view the music list.
On the plus side the sound quality is very good and the player is fairly small for the amount of data storage. The scroll wheel works well and I do not have any problems with the other buttons. The FM and voice recording quality is very good but you can still hear a loss of quality from the live FM to the recording.

I should also mention that I am not using Version 2 and have updated the firmware.

5 out of 5 stars I love it!   April 28, 2008

I love this mp3 player. It holds all my music (8 gigs) and is very user friendly. I was happily surprised that it has an fm radio on it and you can record from the radio. Also it has a voice recorder. I looked at several models and didn't find one that had so many options and was so easy to use as well as priced so unexpensive for what you get. I saw someone elses review where they complained that it took a long time to turn on (5min). Mine turns on in 5 seconds. No problems or complaints.
