Ooops! July 25, 2008 The Kindle is not held securely in the book cover, and may fall out if you are not very careful.
KIndle Book Cover July 21, 2008 There are better options than this book cover. If you do not "hook" the Kindle into the cover its going to slip out. When you do get it "hooked" in, trying to reach the on/off switch will unhook it. When you do want to take it out when its "hooked" in the back cover comes off also. Its better than nothing, but if your buying it, go for the more expensive types with the 4 corner tabs to hold the Kindle in place.
Kindle cover works perfectly with one small modification. (velcro in lower corner) July 16, 2008 I agree with the comment that the kindle cover is very mis-understood.
If you fold the cover all the way back and then secure the elastic strap around the front cover you can ealily slip 3 or 4 fingers of the right hand into the gap between the front and back cover.
The elastic holds the book to your fingers, so you need to exert almost no force to 'hold' the kindle. This way, the elastic is squeezing your fingers between the covers to support the book so you do not need to exert any thumb pressure to hold the kindle. This leaves your thumb free to use the Next Page, Back and thumb-wheel controls.
I find that this is a very relaxed and comfortable way to hold the book and at this point I have hundreds of reading hours logged on the Kindle.
With the kindle in the case, there is very little chance of an accidental next/prev page click.
However, you really should add a piece of velcro to the back of the kindle in the bottom right corner (behined the font-size button). A small dot of press-and-stick velcro is sufficient.
This leaves the top right corner free so you can reach in and turn the radio on/off for air travel and battery conservation.
The velcro is essential. Without it, the Kindle can slip out of the case and get damaged - particularly if you have left the case open and you are not holding it. (e.g. I fell asleep on a long flight and after failing to close the case, the Kindle slipped out during turbulence.)
I'm hooked July 14, 2008 the learning curve o reading with Kindle is short and easy. Once you have learned it the operation is easy as well. I really appreciate the feature allowing larger text size. I used it on a trip including several long plane trips. So much better then packing books in the carry on bag. My only problem has been that the device freezes from time to time and needs to be re-set. Great product!
I cracked my Kindle screen which was not protected... July 12, 2008 I am a US resident currently half way through a 2 week vacation in Africa. I just broke my Kindle by jamming some stuff into a backpack where my Kindle was and the screen cracked. It was not protected. Now I am without my Kindle which had all my reading (12 books) on it.
Note: Fortunately I can afford another Kindle (which has been ordered), but the Kindle screen is fragile and needs protection so I am going to try this cover!!!!! I was just getting used to my Kindle and really liked it!
