Great product. April 4, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Admittedly, I am not an audiophile, but these buds have a sound quality and comfort beyond anything I've ever owned. For 20 bucks,I think it is a great value. I would have given it five stars if it were not for my limited experience with products such as this. That is, I don't know what I don't know.
Comfort - VS - Sound Quality April 4, 2007 The JBuds are so comfortable, it is great to find ear buds that fit so well. But, I feel that in the fit, I gave up sound quality. The JBuds are not as crisp and clear, but do block out ambient noise. Afterall, these are traveling earbuds, right! Overall, a good purchase.
jBuds anyone? April 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
OK OK. Don't get too excited! For the first time in my life they stayed in my ears! I thought I have some deformed ear holes that I can never use ear phones. My right ear still hurts though, but not as bad as the iPod ear phones. I am using the smallest size ear plugs. They do reduce the noice a little bit if you are using the smallest plugs. But they reduce a lot more if you are using the medium or the large ones. Smallest ones are the ones that fit in my ears without me having to push hard so I guess they're my size. Like the other reviewer said, the problem is with bass and treble. I listen to a lot of electronic, techno, and house music, and I am missing the boom boom part. Well, life is not perfect. That's the reason for three stars. If you listen to pop, r&b, hip-hop and other contemporary music, these ear phones sound bettter. I tried Gwen Stefanie and they sounded a lot better than my DJ's mix electronica. $20 is worth spending. Try them and you might like them base on what music you listen to. I'm keeping them nonetheless.
Update a week later: Now I'm trying the medium size buds. I kinda have to push them a bit but the bass sounds a lot better if they're tightly fit in the ears. Also reduce a lot of outside noises. I said reduce, not cancle. They're noise reducing ear phone, not noise cancling ear phones (make no confusion). However, they tend to become a lot quieter indoors (therefore increasing the music volume). I have to lower the volume on iPod when I enter the library or anywhere inodoors that doesn't have a lot of noises. Similarly, I have to higher it a bit when I walk on the street. I have the iPod flip-open leather case right on my belt so turning the volume up is no big deal. I just thought you should know that. Also piano sounds vergood in these ear phones. Any classical music. I was at the bookstore with my iPod on shuffle mode once and there was this Beetoven track came on and I thought it was being played on the bookstore's ceiling speakers. And then I realized it was only my iPod playing in my ears through jBuds. :-) It sounded so natural and made me forget I had the ear phones on. :-) I am loving them!
Save yourself $10 and get a pair of Sony's April 3, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got these after reading promising reviews. First I'm comparing these to my Sony MDR-E828LP Fontopia Earbuds with Winding Case used with my iPod Nano. The J-Buds have little or no bass compared to the Sony's. The Sony's are clear, comfortable and inexpensive for $9. The JBuds sound muddy and and drone in the midbass. They do, however, block out peripheral noise better than the Sonys.
They're not worth the hassle of sending back so I'll likely just use them as a spare pair.
Try a set of the Sonys from a local discount store before you get these and you may find yourself with a good set of $9 earbuds.
Won't stay in my ears... April 2, 2007 These sound much better than my iPod earbuds, much better... However, the JBuds constantly fall out of my left ear when I run (no matter which size insert I use -- I guess I have a weird left ear). So basically, if they won't stay in my ears when I run, they are useless. Too bad there's not a way to test ear buds before buying. Back to my crappy old iPod earbuds -- at least they don't fall out every 30 seconds.
