Sennheiser MX75 - a Good Solid Buy November 3, 2006 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sennheiser MX75 is a nice deal for the money. Price is reasonable. Quality is a lot better than than basic earphones. Good compromise between cost and quality.
Excellent headphones for runners November 3, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The color is a bit severe but most runners will not care when they experience the twist fit of the MX75 which allows you to run without fear of the headphones falling out of your ears as many ear buds do.
Sound quality is decent. You cannot get the ear drum shattering volume that you can find with other in ear headphones but that is a GOOD thing especially if for street and path running where one has to share with other runners, bikers and autos.
Got these for a great price through Amazon and have used them on every run ever since.
Good, but not perfect... read on. October 30, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Only my 2nd Amazon review, so I'll try to keep it brief. GOOD: These are GREAT sounding earbuds, the best I've tried at least. Without crossing that TMI line, let's just say I put the "sport" label on headphones to the test at the gym and have shorted out more than one pair, these are holding up beautifully. Twist to fit is a smart idea, and I like it, barely... read on to the end.
BAD: I've tried a REALLY hard to come to like the asymmetrical cords and frankly they're just a big pain. One is always hanging up and pulling the other out, couple that with an undying desire in the cable to curl up on itself and you have a tangled mess half the time. (I've found this to be especially true when you're changing positions alot during a lifing session). Lastly, price. If I hadn't had a credit from Amazon, I would have sent these back feeling they're too much hassle to justify even the reduced price. Keep reading...
NOTEWORTHY: I have a fair degree of experience with fitting semi-custom earpieces for tactical uses. One comlpetely un-scientific but almost always true observation is there seems to be a relation between one's height and the size of one's ear. ie. The taller the wearer the bigger earpiece you need to fill the recess of the outer ear for a snug fit. These earbuds come with several size discs that you swap out to create that twist to fit action, however, the arm these connect to does not move. I'm 6'4" and don't have abnormally large ears... the biggest disc just barely gets the job done, and I mean just barely, they stil fall out with regularity. Another irritation is the bigger disc means added torque on the connection arm and the disc wants to pop itself off. I've already caught it rolling away several times.
SUMMARY: These are great sounding over-engineered, expensive sport earbuds with more than a few quirks. If you're a sweaty (TMI) sub six-footer with money to burn and a need for new earbuds, maybe these are worth a try. If you're much taller than 6'it is just not worth the gamble because they probably won't fit you as well as they are intended to. If I had it to do over again knowing what I know now, I probably would get something else.
Innovative design - great sound - best headphones for running October 29, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Never mind the green color - these are the best headphones you will find for running or working out.
I've had mine for about a month now. The ear pieces have not fallen out once while running, unlike the earphones that came with my iPod that never stayed in.
I am also very satisfied with the sound quality - much better than the phones that come with the iPod and better than most Sony phones that I have tried.
At first I was a little annoyed by the length of the chord on the right earphone (which is 12" longer than the left) until figuring out that it is intended to be worn behind your neck and to one side. This design works particulary well if you wear your iPod in an arm band case.
After years and years, finally a solution. October 26, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are terrific: compact, good sound as with other earbud-style phones, and yes, they really do stay in place. Ran two miles hard on the Santa Ana trail and they never shifted.
Sennheiser has successfully solved the biggest issue with earbuds. I've been looking for something like this for ~20 years. Nice job!
A nice plus that's included is a flexible silicone pouch for storage. This keeps the phones safe when you throw them in a backpack, and avoids the fuss and potential damage of winding the cord onto a holder.
Five stars.
