4 out of 5 stars A little confusing to start and synchronizing with ITunes   December 22, 2007

Being electronically challenged, I found it a little difficult when I tried to download from iTunes. I have 2 other music players on my PC and the computer needed to recognize the unit. I finally figured it out but still can only download tunes from iTunes. No big deal the prices are the same. The sound from this is awesome and it is very easy to use. Haven't tried the video as yet. I'm sure it will be fine.

5 out of 5 stars Better than expected   December 22, 2007

After reading some of the horror stories of the Nano, I was not sure if it would be worth the risk. I bought one anyway since my old Rio MP3 player broke.
Let me start with my computer. I already had the most recent version of i-Tunes installed and running fine on a WinXP system. This was the biggest problem I read in other reviews, so maybe I got lucky on this one.
I plugged in the Nano, it detected it right away, found an update that was rather long (55 megs) which took over 15 minutes on my slow DSL connection. No problems installing the update and I was syncing it in no time. The sound is good. I like the "lock" feature so you don't change the settings while it is in your pocket. I didn't use the included ear plugs because I have another set that loops over my ears and stays in position better.
Only time will tell if it lasts, but so far so good.

5 out of 5 stars Love the iPod nano   December 21, 2007

My kids had iPods and recommended getting one, I always said no, who needs one, and besides when would I listen to it? I'm too busy. Then I started commuting weekly between two cities on bus/train, and had 4-5 hour time blocks to fill. Plus I exercise daily. So I got the iPod and love it. I get to hear MY music, no commercials. I love the shuffle aspect within genre, so I can have the iPod play constant Jazz or Country or Latin music, whatever I'm in the mood for, but randomly choose from different albums and artists within the genre. For Classical music, of course, it's better to listen to a piece as a whole, in order, so I use the non-shuffle setting for that.
Using the iTunes on my computer has been an unexpected benefit because I now use this at work, I never had used music before on my computer, just occasional online radio stations. I love listening to classical music as I work alone, particularly when working in situations where I won't be interrupted and need to concentrate on my work.
We got a cover set to protect the iPod; the set came with an armband to use while exercising. This has worked well and I recommend it. I also recommend buying an alternative set of earphones to use while exercising, as the ones that come with the iPod fall out of your ears. I use a set that is thin and light and wraps around the back of my head and clips/hangs over each ear.

4 out of 5 stars 8 mg Nano (3rd gen) - love it!!!!   December 21, 2007
I love my nano, it is so much fun, I loaded all my cds and take my music where ever I go... iTunes is fun, I can download a single song or an entire album, however, the 3rd generation need more games. The only thing that disturbs me is sometimes the nano will lock up for no apparent reason and I have to reset it. And I don't like how some settings change on their own. For example, I set the volume of my game to low and when I go to play it again, the volume is full blast. Otherwise, the nano is a blast and I would recommend one to anyone.
