I did purchase this product after reviewing what others had stated about their satisfaction. In summary: 1) It is convenient 2) It stays where you place it on the dashboard. I travel up & down a mountain road with extreme curves in places. The speeds that I attain do not effect the placement of the holder and the attached GPS [does not move]. 3) You can locate the holder anywhere on the dashboard. This eliminates a possible visual hinderance and nighttime glares off of the windshield. 4) Stows away easily. Just place on the passenger side floor or anywhere that is convenient. 5) Angle adjustment, just of the GPS, is extremely easy and secure in it's final placement. Bottomline: I WOULD BUY ANOTHER, IF I EVER MISPLACED THE ONE I HAD BOUGHT.
Necessary addition September 23, 2008
I bought this because I used one with a rental car. This dashboard mount is ten times better than a windshield suction cup. You have to get this if you get a GPS receiver for your car.

I bought this portable friction mount because I didn't want suction cup rings on my window or dashboard. I love the mount and I am so happy I bought it. It is heavy so you can place it anyplace on the dashboard and it does not move while you are driving. It is also very easy to put the GPS on it and to remove it. The only negative thing about the mount is that it is bulky to carry if needed but it does fit in my glove compartment when I am not using it.
Great Function - Questionable Form September 22, 2008
I purchased this product based on the reviews from others. I have not been disappointed. The Grarmin Portable Mount allows easy moving of the Garmin between cars. It also allows you to easily set the unit on the floor, out of view when you would like. I have used the unit on long trips, with some sharp corners and in local traffic with emergency stops and it works perfectly. It is, however, a product which was moved to production without the need for pleasing visual design....some might say ugly....but it is 100 percent on function.
Best approach for portable GPS September 22, 2008
This mount works perfectly, with absolutely no fuss or bother. Just place it on the dashboard. The high friction bottom prevents any movement, and it easily drops into my console when I leave my truck.
