5 out of 5 stars Philips DVP5982 1080p   July 5, 2008
Works great with my JVC Hi-def TV. Picture improvement over regular DVD player is slight but noticeable. Simple to use, great price. I am considering buying another one for another TV.

4 out of 5 stars Great Media Device   July 5, 2008
I bought the Philips DVP6082 primarily to make use of the USB connection on it. I plugged a big hard drive into the USB port loaded with about 500 sitcom episodes and around 20 movies. The content is a mixture of DVD rips, downloaded video, and things I've recorded off the air using the TV tuner card in my PC. I have yet to find any video format the device can't play. It's an inexpensive way to set up a media server and the output looks pretty good.
The DVD upconversion looks good too, and I haven't had any problems with it. I recommend this device.

5 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied   July 3, 2008
I knew nothing about upscaling DVD players until I bought my Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV and saw Amazon had this player listed as a sauggested purchase with it. I did some research and talkerd to a friend who knows about this stuff and decided to buy it.
Boy am I glad I did! I connected to my TV with a 10G monster HDMI cable and the picture is amazing. There was no way I was going to convert my DVD collection to Blu-Ray, so this was the perfect solution.
I also love the slim look.

4 out of 5 stars Good for the price   July 2, 2008
For $60 this dvd player does its job very well. I don't have any young children and I don't think this player would hold up under any kind of roughness that kids might give it. You get a lot of control over the picture and I guess that's a good thing. Some people complained about the remote lacking different things, but I kind of like it that way.

5 out of 5 stars Great purchase   July 1, 2008
For the price, this product does a great job upscaling regular DVD's to 1080... I am more than happy with it.
