Great cam for amateur-intermediate, and semi-pro purposes if you really put the xtra effort June 10, 2008 It's great for purposes stated in the title of this review, I will anex pictures so they can speak for themselves, go look em up under my username. I also take underwater pics with it, I like it so far. When im ready for a 1,000 USD slr camara, I'll be very confident for i will have mastered the basics with this one. For the creative devourer in need to digest all around him/her, this cam rocks. PLus, the price is only 120 something, go buy a more exzpensive 300-500 one and see how the results are practically the same... Seriously compare the pictures from other reviews of much more expensive cameras then come back and see how the difference is but a stark one... I'll try to post more pics in time...
Horrible Outdoor Camera June 4, 2008 I purchased this camera on march 14 or so. I bought it after reading reviews on Amazon on how it was such a great camera for the price. I went to Italy ( Venice and Rome ) for my 5 Year Anniversary. 1st day in venice it worked fine during the day. Next day it showed a big yellow blur during the daytime photos. I tried every setting on the camera and still nothing. Needless to say I had to buy Intant Kodak cameras all over venice and Rome because my camera wouldn't take daytime photos. I was very upset and ready to just throw the camera in the Trevi Fountain.
I will never buy another Canon Camera again !!!
Nice.. June 2, 2008 Nice camera, takes great pictures and is easy to use. One bad thing is it eats batteries like crazy. Take extras with you or you'll be stuck.
Great camera, great price! June 1, 2008 I love my new camera!! Easy to use, right from the start.
Good quality pix!
Easy to use June 1, 2008 This is a great camera for beginners as well as more experienced camera buffs. I chose this model instead of the newer model available based on price and features. True, the newer model has 8.2 instead of 7.1 Megapixels, but honestly I don't think this makes much difference in picture quality. The other new feature causes the camera to "wait" until the subject smiles. To me this is more of a gimmick than anything else. After using the camera for a few weeks I found that the one drawback is the battery usage. The (2) AA batteries that came with the camera lasted two hours at best. Using Duracell Alkaline batteries I found that the batteries run down very quickly. I used up one set of batteries after taking a dozen shots in-doors with the flash. I'm thinking of investing in a battery charger. The camera is a little larger than the new "slim-line" styled cameras that are very popular. To me this is not a disadvantage, since I use the one side of the camera as a handle and it keeps my fingers away from the shutter. In bright sunlight, the display is difficult to see, but I was able to compose the shot through the viewfinder. The image stabilizer is the best feature on the camera, allowing the user to take distance shots without a tripod. I highly recommend this camera.
