Happily Break Even :-) March 12, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I purchased this kit in combination with the Canon SX100 camera. I needed various accessories, and this pack basically covered it all for a great price. A memory stick with 4gb capacity approximately retails $15. Then the Targus tripod, which goes for about $20. The tiny table tripod is about $6. The screen protectors, pack of 5 should be about $5. The lens cloth should be just a couple of dollars. The lens kit prices are usually $10. Memory recovery disks go for $20 or so. The memory card reader could be 10-20 dollars. I don't imagine the little wallet would be more than a few dollars. The case could potentially go for $20-$30. And all of this with a single shipping payment! If you do the math, these are just average prices so you basically break even, plus a little more.
Now let's review the quality of the items. The 4gb card holds about 1100 pictures on my camera, which is always good when you need to store a lot of media. The tripod is from a trusted brandname, Targus. It is sturdy, extendable to a great length, and even has a leveler on it. That little table tripod is tiny, about 5" high I'd say, so make sure your camera is steadied and stabilized on it. Granted this is my first time using the little screen protectors, I think do their job protecting the screen from scratches, but it may not be as durable, easy to clean, or user friendly as other brands I've seen. I wasn't aware I apparently wasn't supposed to breathe on the screen so it becomes fogged up to clean with the cloth, which I usually do to a bare screen. Doing this, I accidentally created some smudges and bubbles when I proceeded to clean it. I will use another protector to try it again though, now that I know what NOT to do. The lens cloth and lens cleaner are effective and do what they're intended to do, simple as that. I haven't needed to use the recovery disk, so I assume that's good as extra insurance. I only use the card reader as a good backup in case I don't have my laptop, which already has built-in card readers. The wallet is convenient to carry multiple cards when you're on the go. Last, the case is very functional and very versatile. This case has 3 little dividers which can be applied/repositioned with their velcro attachments. There is a zip pocket up front with a zippered net pocket on the inside. The same goes for the inside, which has an even bigger zippered netted pocket. These netted pockets/sleeves are also on the left and right of the bag, and then a solid sleeve on the back. The entire thing securely buckles shut. I don't think I'll use the attachable strap since it doesn't seem to fasten securely to the bag, and I do not want to chance dropping my precious new camera! Other than that, I love the bag. It fits all of the items I ordered with the exception of the tripod, which conveniently came with its own little draw-string bag.
With all of that, I am excited to own my new camera and accessories at an affordable price, which I received securely packaged within 5 days of placing my order. Overall, I recommend ordering this kit for your basic camera accessory wants and needs. Hope this helps!
Great buy! January 4, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I spent hours researching digital cameras and their accessories. Once I made the decision to purchase the Canon S5, I decided to purchase some accessories for it right away, too. At the time, there were only a few reviews for this product, so I was hesitant to invest in it. However, once I received it, I was pleasantly surprised. All in all, it included a tripod, which extends to 5 ft and comes with a carrying case, a tiny tabletop tripod, camera bag, lens cleaning kit, microfiber lens cleaning cloth, rechargeable batteries and charger, USB card reader, 4GB memory card, camera screen shields, and a memory card wallet. The camera bag in itself is great, because it holds my camera with plenty of room to spare. There is a pocket on the back to hold the instruction booklets for my camera, and a small pocket on the front that holds small items like my memory cards, the USB card reader, and the lens cloth. Inside, there is a divider. The one side accomodates my camera comfortably, and I use the other side to hold camera cords and things like that. The tripod is lightweight, so if someone bumps into it, it topples easily, but it is on a sturdy frame, so as long as you stand it where it won't get bumped, you won't have any problems. I also love the fact that it comes with a 4GB memory card, which gives me more space for recording video with my camera. I am completely satisfied with this accessory kit for the cost. I would have spent much more money if I would have purchased these items individually. Great bargain! Also, five stars to this company for their prompt delivery, as well. I ordered this product on a Friday, and I think I had it by the following Monday or Tuesday. I didn't choose express delivery, either.
Everything you need and more July 26, 2007 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I bought this accessory kit along with a new Canon Powershot S3. I love and recommend the camera, but that's not what this is about. I saw this set and it had everything else I'd need to buy in the aftermarket, and this is exactly it.
4GB Sd card - Perfect. Works great, high capacity, it's usually pricey for the card alone, and for this package, it's a steal.
Batteries and Charger - Don't worry that it's offbrand, this is an amazing set. Not only does it come with the rechargable batteries, the charger has a wall plug in it, an adapter, and even a car charger. So no matter where in the world you are, you'll have power.
Compact Travel Tripod - You know, it's just as described. Its a small little tripod with adjustable metal legs, and it works great. Small enough to put in whatever you carry your camera in.
Card Reader - This is also great. You can take any of your SD cards, put them in, and connect to your computer via USB. It even came with a USB extender so you can plug in wherever you want. Also, it is a HCSD reader, so you can go ahead and buy your 16GB cards when they're cheap.
Compact Travel Tripod - This is a great product. It's targus, and it really is compact. It comes in an easy to carry bag, and when fully extended goes around 5 feet tall (possibly more, I didnt check). Sturdy with rubber grips, no worries.
Digital Camera Case - I personally loved this case. The S3 fit PERFECTLY inside it, so if you have an S2, S3, S5, this is what you need. Has all the space you could need, and plenty of pockets on the outside too.
Image Recall Software - I haven't used it yet, but If I ever need to, I will. It supposedly gets back lost images, if lets say you formatted a card wrong, or any possible memory issue. I doubt I'll ever need to use it, but it's nice to know they threw that in here.
Memory Card Storage Wallet - It's exactly that. Its really just a trifold that has pockets for your memory cards. You could probably fit at least 6 SDs in there, and It looks like CF cards will fit too. Easy way to carry your cards around safely.
Microfiber Cleaning Cloth - Says Cameta Camera on it, and it works beautifully. Perfect for cleaning delicate anything.
LCD Screen Protectors - Always good to protect your screen. There are guiding lines on the 3 screen cards they give you, to cut out any possible sized screen you have. All the way from 1.7 to 4 inch screens. You could probably get more than 3 uses out of these if youre smart with your cutting too.
Cleaning Kit - Just a good thing to have handy. Cleaning cloth, q-tips, an airbrush, basic but necessary.
All in all, if you have any doubts, throw them all away. This is a great kit to have no matter what digital camera you use, just go for it. I recommend 100 percent.
