1 out of 5 stars Do NOT buy this printer   July 24, 2008
I have never sent in a product review before, but am sharing this with the hope of sparing potential buyers the nightmare of this printer.
I purchased this last October and had problems from Day 1. Spent countless hours on the phone with technical support (both local and distant), got a new printhead, etc. Bottom line: this printer does not work as advertised and has serious problems with both software and hardware - i.e. the photo prints are misaligned, new/updated software doesn't load onto my PC, etc.
I have attempted to get a refund directly from Kodak for this purchase (missed the 30 day return from Best Buy). This process has been equally frustrating and I have yet to be successful.
Although Kodak advertises LOW printing costs, I have purchased more print cartridges for this printer in less than a year than for my older Canon printer over 3 years.

Save yourself time, money and aggravation and buy a printer that works well and is without so many problems!

1 out of 5 stars Kodak EasyShare 5300 All-In-One   July 20, 2008
I bought this printer mainly because of the low price for ink cartridge refills. Everything was fine until I had to replace the ink cartridges. After replacing the cartridges (both black & color), color would no longer print (although the PC recognized the replacement color level). Thought that the cartridge may be bad, so went and bought another one. Same thing--no color print. Worst part is that while a brand new cartridge is installed, after trying to print something in color, the ink level immediately drops and the printer acts like there's no color left. After reading several reviews on web re: printhead problems, I contacted the Kodak rep and they sent a replacement printhead. After installing the printhead (and new cartridge) everything worked okay. Just had to replace the cartridges again ... and same problem. Since I don't plan to request a new printhead each time I need to replace the cartridge, I went & bought a HP Photosmart Printer and couldn't be more pleased. The low price ink deal for the Kodak is definitely not worth the frustration!

1 out of 5 stars 5300 Printer Heads   July 14, 2008
After a few months of use our 5300 stopped working. I contacted Tech support and they immediately sent me a replacement printer head. Per someone my daughter knows who works at Kodak the 5300 printer heads were made by 2 manufacturing plants - one in China and one in the USA. The ones shipped from China can't stand up to the temperature differential encountered during shipping and soon fall apart. This problem supposedly doesn't occur with the ones made in the USA - but you have no idea which one you'll be getting when you buy this - or where the replacements are from. After a few months of working well with the new printer head our 5300 is doing bizarre things again - printing 2 pages then getting a blank page, etc. Cleaning prior to each printing is the only way to be sure of getting anything at all. We've also experienced the problems of not being able to go from printing to scanning and back. And the ink cartridges aren't lasting as long as they should. This was a great idea - maybe well designed - but poorly executed. Cutting corners on the manufacturing will kill you in the end. Don't buy any Kodak products. They DESERVE to go out of business if this is the best they can do.

1 out of 5 stars Kodak 5300 is a Lousy Product   July 14, 2008
The printer worked ok for a couple of weeks and now, after several new printheads and wasting numerous ink containers "callibrating" the printer, it refuses to reliably work.

5 out of 5 stars Great Printer, getting a second one for the office   July 9, 2008
I have had this printer for 4 months, not one hiccup. Perfect photo prints and easy on the ink .

It prints duplex which is great for the environment and saves on paper.
Ink is archival quality.

Great Machine!
