5 out of 5 stars Excellent product   September 15, 2008

This Kingston 8 GB Data Traveler USB drive is excellent and works as advertised. I have used it to back up my hard drive easily without the hassle of changing discs with CD's or DVD's. Plus it can be used over and over again. The value for the money was great considering what I'll save in time and discs. I changed it from its original FAT32 file format to NTFS file format so windows could deal with files over 4 GB. This is easy to do. Note that Windows Ready Boost cannot be enabled for drives over 4 GB. Great product! I've been waiting for big USB drives like this to come down in price.

4 out of 5 stars No Lanyard   September 15, 2008

I am satisfied with my Kingston 8GB Data Traveller. There have been no problems with compatibility or data transfer/loss. The retractable connection means that I will not lose the cover as has happened with other flash drives. The size should be adequate for any application that I have for it. The only negative is that it did not come with any lanyard, so I had to either put it in my pocket or use a lanyard from an old drive. I contacted the company via email, and they said they would send me a lanyard, but I have yet to receive it.

5 out of 5 stars Great little thumb drive   September 13, 2008

Got this little sucker at a great price (thanks, Amazon!) for my wife. Way more room than she'll ever need. She mainly uses it for transferring MS Office docs from desktop to lappy. Also love the fact there isn't any crappy software installed on it. Transfer speeds are fine. The only quibble is the teeny-tiny space to loop a lanyard string onto. That got a bit frustrating. Overall, my wife is very satisfied with this little doo-dad.

5 out of 5 stars Great Product - Great Price   September 12, 2008

This is a great product for a good price. I looked around everywhere -- and I mean everywhere (staples, office depot, ebay, etc etc) and found this product to have good reviews for function and the price was very reasonable! I'm happy with it.

4 out of 5 stars Great Value, Great Thumb Drive   September 11, 2008

I have used alot of different kinds of thumbdrives since I work in the IT industry.

Here are the pros:
1. It's less than $27!!
2. It's 8GB!!
3. NO U3!! (I will elaborate on this in a minute)
4. It's a Kingston (well known for it's quality and reliability)

Here are the cons:
1. It's hard to "slide" the USB connector out of the casing.
2. No lanyard included (or anything to use to connect it to a keyring etc)
however, if you do have an old usb thumbdrive lanyard it will work with it...
3. It can be difficult if not impossible to plug in another usb peripherial beside it due to it's casing size. If you have usb ports on your monitor or on the front of your computer this is not an issue.

Bottom Line:
8GB for less than $27 from Kingston? Where do I sign!! Overall great value and NO %$@#*@ U3.

U3 for those that don't know is a VERY annoying program that has come standard on alot of thumbdrives that you CANNOT just delete off the drive. It takes about a minute to let you just get to the info, and flashes a splash screen above evertyhing you have running at the time.
It's like permanent "trial software" that you would never use anyway.

Anyways I applaud Kingston for NOT using U3 technology! Well then what happens when you plug it into a USB port you may ask? Takes about 20 secs or less, and a Windows Explorer window pops up displaying the contents of the drive with no action required, thats it... NICE!!!
