Best book light for inveterate night owl readers March 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The XtraFlex2 LED book light is light years (no pun intended) better than the old itty-bitty-type lights that used incandescent bulbs.
The XtraFlex2 gets great battery life, unlike the the itty-bittys, which I found went through batteries like crazy. Of course, the LED "bulbs" don't burn out like the itty-bitty blubs (and the XtraFlex2 doesn't heat up from its bulbs, either). The XtraFlex2's integrated battery pack is also great; no getting tangled up in a cord while you're in bed.
I stumbled on the XtraFlex2 at my local Borders. They had a bunch of them in a display when the final Harry Potter book was published (presumably figuring that a lot of kids, little and big, were going to be doing a lot of reading in bed...). The leftovers were sold at half price, a real bargain. I bought one, tried it out, loved it, and went back to buy several more for use as gifts (and spares).
Available in colors other than black; Xtra Flex 2 LED Book Light, Silver, Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book/Craft/Clip-On Light, Green, Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Book/Craft/Clip-On Light, Pink, Mighty Bright XtraFlex2 Dual Book/Craft/Clip-On Light, Purple, and Xtra Flex 2 LED Book Light, Blue.
Must have Kindle accessory March 19, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I frequently read at night and in bed, and my room has poor lighting to read by, so when buying the Kindle I knew I'd need a light. This device definitely fills that role.
The light easily clips onto the kindle cover, and I was able to turn it on with both lights and have no glare on the kindle screen. Maybe I got lucky, or I'm just not as sensitive to the glare as others who have reviewed this have been. Either way, the light works perfectly to illuminate the Kindle screen in the darkness.
Update (4/1, but no jokes!): Clipping the light onto the cover and holding the Kindle and cover open like a book (empty cover on left, kindle on right) allows me to raise the light "head" high enough so the light shines down from the top of the kindle. This way there is absolutely no glare on the screen.
The base of the light is large, allowing the light to be used in a free-standing mode. I can see this being useful for all sorts of different uses, though for me, it's only use will be for the Kindle.
Works Perfectly (almost) March 12, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
If you want a night light for your Kindle, this is the one. Has two settings, and works just fine. Why 4 instead of 5? Because it doesn't work directly on the Kindle and unless you've added Velcro to the back of the Kindle to hold it in it's holder it doesn't work very well there either. But with the little extra space the Velcro adds, it works just fine.
Perfect light for avid readers March 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Finally--a light to chase away shadows cast by poor lighting plans in hotel rooms, badly placed light in airplanes, and a large personal TVs blocking light on exercycles.
So far, this handly little companion has willingly clasped on everywhere I've put it and the flexible neck permits any variety of light placements. So great I've already given one to my husband and will probably use a bunch of them as gifts throughout the year.

Over the years I've used many small, clip on, battery powered lights for reading in the dark. This is the 1st one I've really liked. This was purchased mainly for a Kindle while reading in bed, it clips right to the back cover, and while tent camping. I really like the fact that it uses LED's which really save on batteries and should far outlast the product. I've yet to change the batteries after many hours. It put's out more than enough light, I find I only have to use the 1 LED setting, further saving battery power. I've used it on books and the Kindle, and with it's flexible neck and light weight, I forget it's there. Just a very nice, useful product for those who need to read in the dark.
