| Customer Reviews:
Great Product July 6, 2008 Works great, the only con is the battery life seems like it's not at all near 10 hours. The quality sound is great for a portable speaker and it comes with a nice carrying case.
Nice compact stereo July 5, 2008 This Logitech speaker was purchased to replace a JBL iPod speaker, which I was reasonably happy with but decided to move to a smaller room. I purchased the Logitech unit based on all the previous positive reviews on Amazon. It's been in use for about a month now, and I'm pretty happy with it overall. It produces good midrange sound, although as expected it is a little weak on bass. Also, the unit itself is smaller than it looks in the photos, and it sits nicely on a small end table in the family room, with space for books and magazines.
The main problem I have is not with the unit itself, but with the remote. I was excited to be able to use the remote from the kitchen, but it's a very touchy "line of sight" type remote which needs to be pointed directly at the front of the unit on a relatively even plane. This means that I can't really use it without stepping directly in front of the unit, which somewhat defeats the purpose of a remote. Overall, though, this is a small negative for an overall solid system.
Good Sound July 5, 2008 Product arrived quickly, was decently priced and goves a nice full sound on my friend's ipod.
Logi-tech and my Ipod July 5, 2008 I recently bought a Logi-tech Pure-Fi to use at the Farmers Market. We are selling at the Farmers Mkt. for five hours and I couldn't stand the idea of being that long with earbuds stuck in my head. Now I get to listen to my music and I can share it with others close by. I am very pleased with the experience.
ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFUL July 5, 2008 I consider myself to be a bit of expert in stereo equipment, home theater and most of all, the sound quality of ANY given piece of equipment. I owned the Logitech mm50 and was absolutely thrilled with sound quality of this unit. I had showed it to my brother who also is an Ipod owner and he absolutely loved it. I saw the Logitech "Pure-Fi" on Amazon (which if I'm not mistaken is the replacement of the mm50) and noticed that it was a little larger, appeared to have larger speakers and had a remote that had more functions than the mm50. Being the kind of person that always has to have the latest and greatest of everything, I thought I would purchase the new, better model and give the other one to my brother. I ordered the unit from Amazon and when it arrived couldn't wait to open it and try it out. I have a passion for music and the equipment that allows you to listen to it. When I plugged the unit in and started listening to it I was absolutely shocked at the pathetic sound quality. The speakers had horrible distortion at louder volumes. I really can't believe knowing the quality of Logitech's products that they would let this unit go through quality control and put it out on the market. To try and make a very long story as short as I can, I packaged the unit back up and returned it to Amazon and they promptly gave me my refund. I did lots of research trying to find a unit in the same price range that had a rechargeable battery and sounded as good as the original mm50 and found nothing that came even close...I think Amazon still has some of the mm50 units in stock, so if you're looking for a portable Ipod player in this price range and Amazon still has some, I would say "Jump On It". What I ended up doing was purchasing was the Canton DSS-303 which is not a portable unit but it is a clock radio/FM/Ipod player. Amazon if you're listening or reading this review this is a unit you guys should definitely carry in your wide variety of products. I came across this unit completely by accident but it is one of the all around best sounding products out there for the Ipod market. It's packed with 100 watts of power 50w/per channel, has 2 co-axial speakers and an aluminum 4" subwoofer, and it's also multi-voltage from 100V-240V so you can use it practically anywhere in the world. If you need an incredible sounding bedroom/den stereo THIS is the one to buy. It just came out a few months ago so to find it at a discount is not easy unless Amazon starts to sell them at a good price or you wait a while until you can find more than one retailer selling them on the internet. Cantor is the biggest selling loudspeaker company in Germany (some pairs going for as much as $15,000 dollars or more) so they really knew what they were doing when they made this unit. The quality and clarity that comes from this little box is truly unreal!! The DSS-303 retails for $499.00 and I have a friend in Texas who is a wholesale distributor for Canton and my cost was $380.00. By some highly unusual stroke of luck (because I have none), I found one on Ebay from a guy who never even opened his for $200.00 (he won his and didn't want it), my first bid. I can honestly say that was the best $200 I ever spent in my entire life!! Bottom line on this long story...I wouldn't buy the Logitech Pure-Fi if it was on sale for $40 and Amazon PLEASE start selling the Canton DSS-303 to help out your customers looking for something of incredible quality and don't want to pay retail !!
